I just recently bought one of these, I don't really see myself using the fancy stuff on it, but it plays great. As far as epiphone goes it's one of the best i've played.

Guys he demonstrates gear, if you think the tone is shitty than it's the guitar or amp or whatever he is demonstrating. If you don't like it than it's not the kind of tone you're after. Period. Stop harassing this guy. Any guitar or amp that is good will sound great on whatever setting. If not, it's either not the kind of tone you're after or the gear is shitty, not him.

The acoustic and clean sounds came thru a bit sterile... But I assume it's because of youtube as I own a LP Ultra III which sounds just amazing on almost all settings through any amp I have. BTW: And here's the homework for the Epiphone electricians: Combine the Ultra's PU config with the coil tapping of the Pro model. Then build it in either Pelham Blue or a satin orange w/ black racing stripe design and I may never touch another guitar. ;-))

I bought one 5 years ago. The E on the pick-guard fell off day 1. The g-strings always slips heaps. One of the knobs is janky and makes crunchy sounds when I turn it, not connecting properly inside. After a couple years, the USB port is internally loose and almost impossible to record into computer. And NOW I can only play with the acoustic simulation because the electric makes no sound. The guitar is a lemon. I love it, I haven't used it that much compared to real guitarists, but it's a lemon.

You could also simply install a piezo pickup or use an acoustic simulator pedal as well in any guitar for hybrid.

You know what, i actually really like it. Very cool technologies are packed into this guitar and yeah they don't seem to interfere with the feel of the guitar. It's quite pricy though - around 800 bucks.
@volcom172211 жыл бұрын
It comes with software to record onto your PC. Didn't you watch the whole video? I first thought the same as you thinking its too technological but im beginning to like the idea. Its all optional, no tone is ruined, and its pretty badass. Of course you wouldn't record a song with this usb input but this is friendly for the home musician.

Do the Alnico humbuckers on the ES339 Pro sound the same as the Probuckers on this ES339 Ultra?
@MrCoopersonic10 жыл бұрын
A definite NO! I have had the Classic '57 Humbuckers (Epiphones go at the Gibson PAF style, e.g. the 490/498 models) that they use in the 339 Pro in a SG 400 and plainly: They were ... well ... rubbish (replaced them with a pair of GFS PUs). The Probuckers in the Ultra III models (Les Paul and 339) are MUCH better as they actually come very close to the original Gibson Burstbucker sound (on some occasions I came to think that they may even be identical.) That said: The Classic '57s may(!) sound a lot better in an acoustic-electric like the 339 Pro. Some KZbin clips of the 339 Pro made me think that they do not sound all that bad.

I don't get people trying to push slim necks. It might just be me, but I think a v shape gives you more grip and is more confertable. now the only real fat neck guitars are sg's and vintage re-issues
@promoted73811 жыл бұрын
Just picked on of these up - these demos are tricky because they probably just take it out of the box and start playing it. They typically need lots of TLC by a good mechanic to become playable. The one I bought had a great tech set it up - he had to recut the nut as well - the result? A very fine playing guitar I can use at a pro level, which I do. The Nanomag becomes the suck button however! maybe you can make them sound good thru a full range system - I don't know. I'll never use it. But the straight electric 339 is pretty great. Rich and warm sounding through a good Fender amp. For 400.00 you can't go wrong.
@montageXgamer10 жыл бұрын
I've been contemplating whether their 399 pro would be a better guitar. Instead of the nanomag it has a coil tap function which i really wish this guitar offered as well. I think the nanomag could be nice (versatility intone), but does a coil tap give a better/more fun to play tone? I guess I wont really know until i play the things
@promoted73810 жыл бұрын
Carl geath All up to personal taste - I find the coil tap to be an uninspired tone - more like something is missing or wrong - as an addendum to y previous comment, I have found that a touch of that nanomag through the PA blended with he (very good) hum buckers - gives a nice shimmer. Personally I would take that over the coil taps.

guys come on.... Paul does what he does.... He plays guitar ! The sound ( if you don't like it) as nothing to do with the poor guy ! If you don't like the playing or the sound, go to another video and stop complaning. I've subscribed to the magazine and it gives me the news on what's recent about guitars and amps. Guitar tones are not set in stone, if you want a tone like Randy Rhoads or Steve Vai... well just look at them on youtube and copy their tones... sad but true unfortunatly !
