Love the video and the series idea! BTW: to answer your question, the term "Contact fusion" was originally introduced in the Yu-Gi-Oh GX anime in season 2 episode 16. Jaden used it to summon his Neos fusion monsters back then, and specifically referred to is as being a "Contact Fusion"

A fusion monster is made when a mommy monster and a daddy monster like each other very much. Also in Ultimate Dragon's case, it's a threeway.

I’m a super casual fan, I watched the show and collected the cards, but never battled as a kid. I kept them through the years and decided to rewatch the show a few months back and try out dueling. I went to a local place to me that had a ton of new and vintage structure/starter decks and bought a few. I started dueling with a cyber strike structure deck and added/subbed a few spell/traps from my vast collection. It’s amazing how all I’ve needed a few times was a great draw to be able to throw down 1-2 cyber dragons at 2100 atk each and use a limiter removal to wipe someone’s whole field and a ton of life points, if not all, depending on their monsters

Another good type 3 deck for some people may be the Invoked archetype. One main deck monster and a group of 7 fusion monsters that have a variety of useful effects to deal with troublesome situations. Combine it with certain cards and you can have access to any needed element for the cards. Of course, the deck is also easily splashable, as you really only need to add two cards (Aleister and invocation) to actually use the fusions, which can help provide potential outs or beatsticks to decks that may lack them.

While not super relevant, Gem-Knights fit the archetypal specific and the oddball. The oddball from Lady Diamond being able to "GRINDU FUUGO" any 1 gem-knight, as well being notable for having the most fusion spells.(GKFusion, Brilliant. Pyroxene, Absorb and I think one more) The Legendary Dragons are a unique one, too. Critias used traps, and Hermos made equipped fusion. Blue-Eyes may have been good for nostalgia because they had Neo-Blue-Eyes and Twin Burst. Invoked is another good deck to talk about, being the most recently relevant Fusion deck with a great mechanic. Great video though! I'll definitely show to my friend who I'm trying to get into the game this series!

Rather than Shaddolls I would recommend Metalfoes as the "type 3" fusion deck. Specific spell cards, lots of search and recycling effects, and a solid intro into pendulum mechanics as well.

The Wiki gives it the term "Transformation Summon". And since the archetype is based on Kamen Rider tokusatsu, in which " Henshin (Transform)" is the key word used to do just that, I think it fits.

The Masked HERO thing is unofficially called Transformation Summoning because you transform one monster into another. It's also called Solitaire Summoning because you're the only one playing cards until you win.

I think forgot to put Legendary Dragons in the Special.fusion category due to the fact that the Dragons can fusion into different monsters based on the monsters/spells/traps that they specifically need.

You forgot you can contact fuse with facedown monsters with the only exception being Chimera Tech Fortress Dragon, that really comes in handy facing Invoked decks when you 're playing Ritual Beasts. Makes the Wind Invoked fusion monster Raiden completely useless and banishing from your grave with their fusion spell actually helps you lol.

If the token has 'ancient gear' in it's name, yes. Edit: Keep in mind that most tokens are called 'Token' though. This doesn't apply for ancient gears since their token is called 'Ancient Gear Token'.

Most fusion monster's Materials don't have to be on the field. You can send the materials from your hand, too! You can Fusion summon with Monsters on the field, from your hand, or a combination of both.

You can solemn warning\strike them since it is a Special Summon. The card reads 'Special Summon 1 'Masked Hero' monster from your Extra Deck'.

Can someone explain me why sometimes I can resurrect a fusion monster using "Premature Burial" or "Call of the Haunted" and sometimes I can't? I know the Elemental Hero fusion monsters can be just summoned by fusion summon (that is specified on the cards), so they can't be resurrected, but that happens with Cyber Twin Dragon, for example. (I'm playing the first game of the Tag Force Series).

Well, normally I use "Power Bond" or the effect of "The Light - Hex Sealed Fusion" to summon the Cyber Twin Dragon from the Extra Deck to the field. When he is in the graveyard, I try to use those cards I mentioned before to ressurect him, then appears a list of cards that I can special summon from the graveyard, sometimes Cyber Twin Dragon appears on that list, sometimes not.
