@fortitudinefarm thanks, happy to be helpful. Charcoal, because of it's surface area has the ability to hold and slow release a tremendous amount of nutrients. Adding algae is a big boost because of its carbon and nitrogen content.

Mixing it with aged manure, or compost is great, or even forest top soil and the stuff under ripen logs. 5% charcoal is ideal for gardens and fields but 10% won't hurt anything as long as it's also got richness mixed in the first year. Charcoal causes up to 4x vegetative yeild!

@sinbads.4189 I've found it interesting and had great results last year, once I was able to control the critters. I haven't tried, using it in only part of a garden box to make a side by side comparison. I'll probably do that this spring.
