Thank you, Pene, for a really helpful episode this week! Firstly, I find it particularly helpful to be reminded of “controlling parent” when you use the little father figure and I found myself instantly relaxing when you held up the mother… it is so easy to have that little bossy voice of the controlling parent in one’s head and very helpful to be able to recognise it. Secondly, I really appreciated your little demo on sewing together the quilt-as-you-go shapes plus adjusting ones that didn’t quite match - both techniques will help my second project look much neater! ❤ I will watch with interest your newest project of creating your life story in cloth - the idea rather appeals to me, too! xx
@penelopeschinwag6 ай бұрын
Thanks Helen, So pleased you enjoyed the demo. The little things make all the difference I think. I have started with my life story in cloth! My mind says I must get up to date (a lifetimes work I think) so have let go of that CP voice and am enjoying getting started.

I've just found you. Episode 104. I had a very controlling Mother and my Dad left when I was young. I looked after my Mum for 5 years until she died and then my only Brother died a year later. So I often struggle with my self talk. I have a quote that I love. "If you spoke to your friends the way you speak to yourself... would have any friends?" I loved your advice and I thank you. I will go back and look at all your previous videos. I'm so happy to have found you. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Hi Pene & Pete, what a great podcast. All of us viewers are so lucky that you share all your makes with us, that you are honest about mistakes and willing to try different options too, this is so empowering and encouraging. Crafting is such an individual thing but because you share all your makes (and sometimes your bakes too) we all benefit and learn from your experiences and calm explanations. I'm always so happy to see you and after having a good laugh with the fun of Pete & Pene desert Island discs segment feel cheery and uplifted. So thank you both very much x

I live in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Del Shannon lived in Coopersville which is maybe 10 miles down the road from us. He was a famous figure there as well as here as he lived so close by. There is an old train in Coopersville along with a train museum. In the fall they call it The Pumpkin Train and it takes the children over to Marne, Michigan which is not far but all along the way they have characters come out and lead in singing songs and a man dressed as an old fashioned train conductor come around and punch everyone’s ticket. Afterwards the children get a free pumpkin. Our granddaughter loved going on it with us. They also have Del Shannon Days in Coopersville, which are also fun with a vintage car display. Pete would love it! Lots of small town charm. Del Shannon certainly was famous here.

Love the little sewing caddy with your things in it for your tags. I think that is what you said was in here. I've not heard of King Tut thread but the name is fun. I'm sure your channel will grow steadily as subscribers pass the word to check it out. I think your channel is quite special and different than most because you have all sorts of regular parts to share all the different parts of your life. I feel like I am with a friend - excuse the familiarity - and more than quilting or knitting how-to's I need a friend. I think you are rather like Mr. Rogers - only for a bit older people. Anyway, as always I love the view out your window. The sea is so exciting! Everything in your video is just right - like you put in just the right amount of ingredients and the recipe is delicious. I make hexagon paper-pieced cot quilts & the recipients seem to appreciate them. I just love working with colour & fabric. Your work is rather good I think so carry on ! When it comes to buttons for knitwear, I usually use contrasting rather than matching ones. Life's too short to match everything.
