Absolutely love to watch this podcast on KZbin. It’s awesome to watch and see Chelsie as herself. Don’t get me wrong I also love Chelsies KZbin’s but in these podcast she is so much more comfortable and relaxed. It’s not scripted word for word and so much more natural and her personality shines thru. Love your mother daughter team. Super neat. Enjoy both your ladies talents of designing patterns and fabrics. Talent runs in the family 🥰😘. Stay strong 💪🏻 safe and healthy 🏠 and smile!!!! 😁 you both are loved, adored and appreciated 🥰😘👍

I made a quilt with the same pattern of my dad's grandmother. It was a genuine 1860's quilt and it had holes and the material felt like gauze. I did it in Civil War reproduction fabrics with his favorite colors. When I gave it to him, his intention was to put it up to "save" it. I explained to him that he had a 150 year old quilt on his bed in use. Now fabrics are so much better, so it could last and last. Cotton is easy to wash and dry and it gets better with time. He got to use it for 10 years and I know he cherished it. Now I have put it on the rack for his great-grandson who was named after him. But, my parents grew up in the depression and when I moved them in with me, there were pillowcases with crocheted edges and beautiful handmade items that my mom got for their wedding 63 years ago. She had been saving them because they were so pretty and personal. She was 87 when we went through the house and now in my home, these prize pieces are being used, in places where they don't get a lot of wear and they rardly have to be cleaned. Please don't save things for a special occasions. Use them and give them the same amount of love that went into them. I can't wait for the next podcast!!

Such an informative video! I have often wondered which blogs or Instagram accounts that you would choose to follow. Time is so valuable and unfortunately I can’t keep up with everybody that I would like. Thank you for explaining the “for personal use only” which makes sense when it is explained. It reminded me at telling my mom that my brother tore off the “Do not removed tag” on the pillows. 🤣 Obviously I liked to follow rules at a young age. Thank you ladies so much!! Remember you are appreciated!!😊😍

I have had many talks with my children when younger about making quilts for their friends having babies for the first time, like cost, time, and care, themes, after being ask countless times to make one. After having them paying for the material once they have decided they can buy more for their money in things the baby really needs now, then material for a quilt, and save the quilts for another special occasion. After making so many for my family, I now make and give away a lot to unknowns and to church charities, with love. I have my quilts for holidays and beds, tables etc., so I'm a happy camper. Like the list of people and I'm going to have to look into some. I try to do a day off on the YT but like you said it is a rabbit hole when you get started. You 2 Stay Safe till the next time.

I always prewash quilts with sensitive, fragrance free detergent before I gift them. I actually tumble dry them too. That way the recipient won’t worry it’s ruined when it crinkles and it removes the chemicals used in the fabric manufacturing process. Plus you can be sure it washes well!

Oh my goodness...thank you so much for the story about giving the quilt! I have goosebumps!! I'm in the process of doing 2 quilts (your summer sweet fabric) for people who have done nice things for my family where they won't let me pay them...I will give them freely with my heart!! Thank you!! A few years back I was very ill and a friend gave me a lovely soft blanket (not a quilt) . To this day that blanket gives me soooo much comfort and I think of her everytime I snuggle under it. 💗 You two are adorable!

I consider myself a beginner, having completed 5 quilts, 4 of which are throw size, 1 is full bedspread size. Each part of the process requires different skills, so I also like to not rush and only work on one part of the process on a given day (cutting, piecing, sandwiching, quilting, binding). My workmanship is better when I focus on that one process that day.

I love your podcasts- I listen to you both on the way to work and then also watch the same podcast on youtube. On the issue of selling quilts made using other people's patterns. I think Tula Pink has a different approach and thought about who owns the actual pattern rights. I remember hearing her on the media explaining that she feels that if you buy the pattern you use it but if you want to sell it, you ;must purchase another pattern. I guess you could enquire about this with her to be 100 per cent accurate.

I make quilts as a gift of love for people, so I've come to feel that no matter what the quilt means or does not mean to another person, it's important to remember that I made it with love. I also feel that when I give a gift to someone, it becomes theirs and it is important for me to let go of any expectations, otherwise it's not really a gift, I'm attempting to place an obligation on the recipient. That doesn't mean you have to make quilts for people who do not appreciate them. It just means if you do, remember why you made it.

I agree 100% with you but I do struggle a little when the recipient can’t say thank you. If I ask someone what time it is I always thank them, I gave someone a dog bone for their dog and they thanked me so I struggle when someone can’t say thank you for handmade quilt custom made in their favorite color. You can correct me if you think I shouldn’t even expect a thank you. I’m a little hesitant of who I give quilts to now.

@@jojorey6886 Oh please don't take what I said as a chastisement on you. I'm only saying that because someone doesn't thank you...that's on them. You did something nice for them and that's a reflection of your kindness. Don't let their bad manners make you lose your love of sharing your work. Other people will be grateful.

Great food blog with recipes that are simple enough for everyday and wonderful--fit to make for company and you know they'll turn out great, even without pre-testing: Cafe Sucre Farine. I have gifted every quilt I've ever made (card with care instructions included) and I do it because it is a labor of love, freely given and like all the good we may do in the world, we never know how it will be received and what the impact will ultimately be.

Hello, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I looked into it and it looks like it might just take longer for youtube to auto produce the Closed Captioning on this video because of its length. KZbin has a program that automatically adds closed captioning but it may take a few days for it to be published with longer videos. I will be checking up on it again to see if that is the case. All of our other videos have Closed Captioning so I'm hoping it just hasn't loaded up yet for this video.
