Another fan of your podcast. Enjoy your suggestions and obvious respect and rapport between you. Suggestions: When I lay my blocks out, I always put a quilting safety pin in the upper left block to indicate the top. (I also put one in the centre, and once I am going to make the sandwich, put one in the centre back. I use a plastic table cloth with a taped cross of wooden skewer sticks to centre the backing, then the quilt top. You centre the pins on the cross. Of course remember to remove the pin in the back before quilting!) Cheers from 🇨🇦🍁 Bev B

Time tracking is a useful time management tool often used in business. I remember using it 40+ years ago at work to see how long it took to complete certain office tasks. Nowadays there are time tracking apps!

I am so enjoying your podcast! I find myself smiling a lot as I listen to you, your enthusiasm is contagious. I will be looking forward to your new planner and I appreciate all the tips on time management. I still work full time out of the home so managing my time effectively and efficiently so I can have quality time in my sewing room is important. 💕 Thank you!

Question: you mentioned that both of you use Warm & White batting. Is there a reason for that? I normally use Warm & Natural. My daughter was snuggled up in my latest quilt tonight & she said that it isn't as heavy or warm & cozy as the quilt that my neighbor made her (she uses the less expensive Poly-Fil). Why do you love the Warm & White? Note: your quilts are amazing - your color choices are spot on!

Hi Ladies! I am a new quilter and a new fan! I so enjoy your podcasts. You two are so cute. I have a daughter and hope to have the same kind of relationship with her as you two have as she gets older. Anyhoo, I have a question... How do you place the hexie flowers on your quilt? I cannot find any tutorials on how to use the hexies once they are sewn together! I have no idea how to use them, but love your quilt so much. I would love to make the quilt but just don't know how. Do you think you would ever do a tutorial on Hexies only? Ho to make them, put them together, and HOW TO ADD THEM TO YOUR QUILT! I hope you consider my request. Like I said, I am such a fan. You two really make me so happy and eager to start new projects. By the way, I really LOVE your new fabric!! Thanks so much for taking the time to read and consider my request. Have a great day!

I get really into a project and then get caught up in EPP for a few weeks before l get my enthusiasm back, just wondered if it’s something that happens to other people too.

I am destashing and purging and reorganizing my studio. In doing so, I have fabric that I no longer want or need. Is there a place where one can sell back or donate fabric???? I would hate to just get rid of it when I can make a bit of money from it or at least give it to someone who can use it. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank nyou.

Deborah Pace if you have a local quilt guild, they would probably love to have fabric donated. They often make charity quilts and, as fabric is expensive, donated fabric is a bonus.

I look forward to this podcast every couple of weeks! Thank you! Your comments on binding were timely. I have wanted to ask you how you choose fabric for your bindings? Do you pick bindings that are darker or lighter? Do you go with a pattern or solid? etc.
@TheLhester19654 жыл бұрын
I love the diagonal stripe!! Thank you, THANK YOU!! it makes it look like I cared, or had the math skills to do a bias binding, without the hassle. Lori Holt has some of those tape measures on FQS! I have bought them for my quilt buddies Christmas Stockings. I want y'all to know that you are one of about three channels that get a page each podcast in my "Fat Quarter Shop Live Stream Enabling Notebook" so I can write everything down that I need to order. And, I'm a huge Planner Girl, so I have to have one of every planner. It's gorgeous and so colorful and I know that you, Sherri, are a meticulous planner, so it will be FUNCTIONAL as well as beautiful!!!! My daughter is a planner nerd like I am. Pat Sloan calls her seam ripper "Jack" the Ripper. Also, those magnetic drawing boards for kids are amazing doodler opportunities, if they will let you use it. I have a request, please force someone, at gunpoint if necessary, to make more of that charcoal, large, floral print from Summer Sweet. I fell in love late!!!! I already have every precut in Balboa coming. Before Bloom-Topia, I didn't know your stuff as much. I was strictly Bonnie and Camille, the only designers I knew. Your aesthetic is so easy and bright to work with. I think Fat Quarter Shop has been a life saver for all of us. I have become hooked on Pat Sloan's monthly calendars (what an inspiration for perseverance she is), Lori Holt, Joanna Figueroa, Cory Yoder, Vanessa Gurtsen, Editya Sitar, etc. But I love "Labor of Love" because it is so varied in stuff like you were talking about today. Very homey and generational. It speaks to the farmhouse aesthetic at the same time as offeringodern shapes and colors. And, that cover gives me all the feels. I'm a sucker for hexies and Dresden blocks. I feel so blessed to have this community with all the incredible ideas. I have to laugh because I've made masks out of my scraps from Bloom-Topia. I was a "late bloomer" because I had to make masks for our elderly population at our church so they could have them when they were scarce, and for all the employees at my husband's office. But I bought like Hobby Lobby fabric and used my stash for those. But my mom, who is 89 and lives with me and I, have Summer Sweet masks that are reversible. I feel so bad because they're so beautiful and everybody thinks they missed them in the basket. I'm like "yeah, I didn't have much of that fabric." Grandbabies are everything. My grandson used to play under the table at my church quilting group. I'm a young grandma, so the other ladies were so tickled to have him. He had his own little suitcase with a few spools and a few blocks, a ruler and some lace and he would put them on the design wall and move them around. He would have plenty within an hour because he would get all the ones we made. He called it "The Quwiwlteen Gigi's Day." He's 11 now, so way too cool for his suitcase, so when he got to go before Quarantine he took his IPad and sat in the middle of everyone. Some of our ladies have no local grandchildren or none at all, so he gets petted and treated like a King. We have a new batch of littles now so I hope they're not in college by the time we get to go back. I'm sorry this is so long, but this podcast is like sitting and talking with your ladies at the Guild or at the Church. You guys have really raised the bar each week, and I am hooked. I would LOVE to see a focused episode on Time Management and Planner Usage when it comes out. YOUR NEW LINE IS GORGEOUS, and I cannot wait to get it all, especially those hexies. I haven't seen them in person, but do they come with cardboard templates for doing the basting, and are they like Sue Dailey's so we can glue baste? If not, Why not? I bet they would sell better in a set.

Love your podcast. Wish my husband could use a seam ripper, but as of now I choose to do it myself. lol I really love your new line that is out. Planning on making a Spring /Summer quilt out of it to put on the sofa next year. Just need a pattern for myself and husband, thinking on and loving Emma, will see. Love your idea of a Christmas quilt, in red and green I'm a holiday person. I to use a timer to quilt or I can spent all day quilting, just peace and quite time, but I do stop when the timer goes off but will sneak back to it if I can . I definitely quit when I repeat using the ripper, that to me is a sign and time to take a break or stop. Stay Safe till the next podcast. P.S. ordering the planner site unseen just know it will be what I want and need. Do you have a link for the time sheets you talk about.
