Met both Ed and Matt in Prague and you cant found 2 champs and 2 world record holders that are more humble and down to earth. My mind was blown how good guys they are. Btw what you see is what you get. What you see in videos is same that you get in real life.

Well not too many guys over 6-1 with a 600 bench can pull that much but oh well

I appreciate the “long-haul” approach vs the excitement of going to somewhere such as Westside for the “environment.” It was by steady progress that both these lifters gained both success and some impressive longevity. Coan stayed in the game for quite awhile! Sudden gains aren’t always the ticket for the long haul.

He was so right about the front squats. At one point, prior to getting into conjugate training I could front squat 380-390. But I could only back squat 440-450. The carry over was so minimal

I remember having just a Texas Power bar to train with. At the time I was pulling around 455 in training. Went to the meet with a Texas deadlift bar and pulled 501. So that dialogue on those 2 bars is true for me too.

John Gamble….yeah, he impressive just in repose as a coach at the Women’s Senior Nationals… i grew up on watching Jerry Jones here in Minnesota. We had Mike McDonald also, benching in four different weight classes. I watched the Seniors in Madison, 1980? Tremendously hot venue… Ed Coan is a worker, not a braggart or boaster. I have to admire his ethic and effort!!
