First day of Xmas break and was able to get my first hog of the season. New PB for me at McAlpine and 2nd place on my all-time trout PB.

Congratulations on the PB & NEW lake record! I also hit my new PB for rainbow & lightning this fall but at McSwain. Tight lines & see you on the water 🎣.

Thanks. I just started fishing McSwain the last few seasons and enjoy the water there too. Little bit of a longer day trip but if the fish are cooperative it’s all worth it.

The other day I was watching Mt Lassen stock Santa Ann River lake every week they stock that lake with a truck load of trout. On Thursday it was stock with so many trout in the 10 + pound range and I there had to be a few 14 pound fish. Personally I don’t the like the lake it like fishing in downtown LA. And it cost around $70.00 to fish it. But it always crowded with people fishing. Congratulations on that nice trout you caught.👍

Last winter I made a SoCal trip to fish Prado, Glen Helen and Yucaipa. Had thought about Santa Ana but just didn’t look appealing although they get plenty of fish

I finally fished Santa Ana this past winter. Got skunked and the guy next to me lost a 10lb+. Not a great environment but they get the biggest fish. When I left that day I drove around the lakes and counted over 220+ vehicles.

Congrats on the PB! I’ve long considered fishing McAlpine but the cost seems expensive. Out of curiosity, care to share how much that stringer set you back?

I recently moved nearby. It does seem expensive, but it beats driving a hour or more away to the bay just to get skunked. Here it’s for sure catch. Just my 2 cents. Tight lines! 🤙

East Bay parks and rec do a great job stocking Bay Area lakes but just too much urban pressure. I can drive a few hours to get to the Sierra foothills but it’ll still cost me about $20 to fish not including time and gas. $10 extra for a shorter drive is an easy gas saver.

You’ve got to try McAlpine. About $10 bucks to fish stocked water in the Bay Area, $20 in the Sierra foothills. I was 11 pounds over on this day…

How do you fish your spoons ? Do you jig well you retrieve
@noskunkadventures5035Ай бұрын
Usually I keep a constant slow retrieve on the lower water column. If that isn’t working, I may add random stops or a jerk to start the retrieve.

I don't see any children fishing? Isn't this what this plant pond is for?
@noskunkadventures5035 Жыл бұрын
Kids are there occasionally but this lake is mainly supported by Bay Area fishermen that don’t have time to drive to the Sierras or Sierra foothills.
