Hi Penelope. It was so lovely to catch up with you again. I think 'Meela' (I hope that is spelt correctly) will love her lovely cardigan and beautiful quilt. The quilt has turned out so well. I think one for yourself is a great idea and beginning with the lovely blocks you have already made is perfect. It was fun to have a peep at your lockdown videos. What a great memory to have. I actually loved lockdown. We were the most locked down city in the world here in Melbourne, more on than off for 2 years. I began my patchwork journey and now have many quilts finished. Finishing something was always a problem for me. Thank you for taking us on a tour of The Star. Such an interesting and beautiful place. I loved the textiles in the room, especially the blanket. Take care xx

Loved going along on your trip this week and your photography is so wonderful. You have a great eye. It was nice to see the close-up views of the blanket and the book bench. Both so very unique. Such a lovely visit from you today! I’m so glad you made the decision to go “public” with your videos because your episodes are such a treat! I love hearing about the places you have been, Alfriston looks beautiful. There are so many amazing places to visit in this country. I have yet to knit a jumper top down, yet I really don’t enjoy sewing up garments after knitting them. I think one of the things stopping me is that I had read an article a few years ago that said garments knitted in the round didn’t have as much stability and tended to twist where a seamed garment doesn’t. But given the popularity of top down patterns, I guess that this isn’t the case. The quilt is so nice, and I am sure will be treasured by your great granddaughter.
@penelopeschinwagАй бұрын
I was so apprehensive about top down. I love them. They sit the same as knitted flat garments. I don't find they twist at all, comfortable if anything. Have a go. xx

Great video as always. We are presently selling our caravan after nearly fifty years of van holidays, as you have shown us another, really lovely way to have a break! Thank you also for the helpful Quilt joining instructions, which I plan to try ,after purchasing the templates recently. The joining and drape of QAYG quilts bothered me also. Your quilt and knitting was beautiful and I thought the colour blend in Mila’s cardigan looked better than the pattern photo. When you said ‘Sea slugs’ I shuddered, but the photography revealing these colourful creatures was astonishing! Loved the fun films, a sense of humour keeps our chins up don’t you think? 😊
@penelopeschinwagАй бұрын
That must be a mixture of emotions selling the van. Like you say it doesn't mean your trips away have to stop. We are finding short short breaks so lovely. I meant to comment on your previous episode Pene but I watch on my tablet but prefer to comment using the laptop keyboard so I often forget Another great episode. I'm yet to be convinced with the top down method although it has it's advantages and there are more modern patterns available for it. I think seams are more important when using something that has a lot of drape such as alpaca as some yarn will stretch. Your jumper is lovely and I do want to knit one of her patterns soon. Add it to my never ending list 😅 I loved seeing you in the tea cosy in the other episode and I immediately thought of Tudor or Medieval hats or headwear. The latest quilt is just beautiful and I'm saving the method of handsewing so I can use it on mine See you soon xx
@penelopeschinwagАй бұрын
Hi Anne, I'm the same with commenting please don't worry. I agree about top down, this is my third one in all my knitting history, and so I don't have enough experience yet. The forest light is alpaca for me so we shall see, although I have knitted it a bit small so if it stretches all so well and good! I hope to do a very short video on the quilt as you go method I have found works best for me. I have shown it on the episodes but it will be handy for some to have it in one place. I have watched your latest episode but not commented yet. I hope you get the car that is right for you. xx
