love it down at Napton...used to go for a walk there when I lived between Coventry and Rugby...loved the locks and the mill on the hill...and going to the Blue Lias pub....with that boat in the field why was the reason they moored there...is it to save on taxes and such...that is the joy of the canals...you can go as fast or as slow as you want...and enjoy the views as you go....

You can still leave a like on a smart TV via the options menu. I don't often watch KZbin on mine, but from memory you access the choices via three vertical dots on the bottom left of the screen which when you mouse over them with the remote say 'more' then you scroll right to 'thumbs up'!

Really enjoying your channel and I’m trying hard to catch up! You should have gone to the chippy in Braunston or the chippy van calls at Wigram’s Turn Marina, I think on a Thursday around 7pm but check first because I’m drinking wine! I love fish and chips and have them every Friday when I’m at home because it’s a tradition in our family and my parents who are 88 and 89 look forward to them. Thankfully we have a fantastic local chippy. You’re so right about canal time. A few years ago we hired a boat on the L&L and wanted to travel to Saltaire to visit the mills. We left Barnoldswick and headed to Skipton and the Bingley 5 rise. I always drive which meant my husband had to do the swing bridges. As we were under time constraints he had to do 32 swing bridges in one day! It then took ages to get down the 5 rise so we did make it to Saltaire but we then had to turn or wind and head straight back. It wasn’t a problem because we dropped off the hire boat then got in the car and 20 minutes later we were in Saltaire. That’s when we knew we had to buy our own boat! Thanks for share no your journey.

Hello Mark and Deborah, I like all the videos up to now, and intend to enjoy the rest of them. Mark, you have a great sense of humour, and Deborah, you are lovely. I envy your lifestyle, enjoy it, and if it takes 8 days to travel 14 hours of cruising, SO WHAT? Deborah, the only way to be happy "steering the boat", is to do it more often. Mark, could you not manage to do a couple of brewery tours? Are there any near, or on the canal? Keep up the good work, and do it for those of us who can't do it.

Might you have an opinion on the two options that I have come across via other KZbin channels regarding bottom painting the narrowboat? Many owners seem to choose the "Bitumen" paint option which last for 2+ years. One couple had their boat bottom sand blasted clean, and then it was coated with a 2-pack epoxy and finished with a top coat of glossy black paint which lasts for 5+ yeas. I would imagine cost is consistent with longevity and preparation efforts. Thoughts?
@welldeckdiaries56104 жыл бұрын
we went for the normal bitumen type of blacking as this was our first time, but we will consider 2pk when it due for blacking again

Skateboarding and bmxing Fan09 if we are on a river and they issue strong stream warnings after heavy rain and also if the canal or river freezes over as breaking through the ice scrapes the protective blacking of of the hull which will lead to hull corrosion

Just binged watched up to Episode 13 and found your vlogs very honest and enjoyable. I was very surprised that you did not visit The Folly at the bottom of Napton nine, although you did try The Wharf at Fenny. I also love a good well flavoured pint and have a spreadsheet on my phone of 127 waterway pubs and still counting. They are spread out from The Thames and up the GU, into the midlands and Yorkshire Canals and all the places I have stopped at on Stronghold over the last few years. You may have read a few of my blogs on nbstronghold.blogspot.com Happy cruising and maybe we will meet up one day. Don't forget that it is the fastest way to slow down on a narrowboat.

I like your blogs and you are a nice couple, but I dont understand this patreon thing! I know it's not just you. Why ask people to gift you money each month to help you live the life you love without having to work. You sold your house so you have money! Why do we who work give narrowboaters money to live a work free life that a lot of people would love, but cant afford to? I just dont get it and I think it's wrong! Sorry, you say comment positive or negative! If you cant do it with your own money dont do it!!!🙁.that's how I feel everyone us different.!
