Totally agree. I could imagine a kids reaction hooning up and a trout tear off as their first fish. They would be hooked for life. Worth a trip up with Steve at some point.

Nice video Dan easy fishing yes but like you said it's nice to catch hard fighting rainbows on ultra light gear and it just proves lrf gear is more than capable of landing larger fish 🐟

Rainbows are beautiful fish - although they seem a little too easy to catch in a well stocked pond. Guess you'll be off to rehab soon? 🤪 Loving the birdsong in this vid. So seldom we hear that in the big smoke - crows, pigeons and seagulls rule here. That rod is certainly giving you all it can - seems to catch EVERYTHING. I'll be out hunting for a bass soon. Yeah. I was under no illusion that it would be remotely difficult. I have fished there with flies before and was the same result. But like I said in the video, I just wanted a quick easy session for number 40. Boxes ticked and move on to the next one

Great session and venue. I’m a keen flyfisher, but think it’s a shame more south west trout fly fisheries don’t allow other angling methods, to open the doors to other anglers. Enjoy those trout 😋

That’s because you’re on the easy lake which is basically the stock pond, the proper trout are in the other lake which is fly only.

The other lake is just as easy on flies though. I've never spent more than a few hours there after buying two tickets fly fishing.

Another nice vid Dan! Question for you, where from and what type of Tanago hooks do you use? I've been to the same mark twice getting tiny rattling bites and can't hook in with the SG3-SS hooks in using so want to try smaller! 🎣🎣
