Absolutely stunning, you make it look so easy. One of these days I will pluck up the courage to use an airbrush to weather on of my loco's

Thanks! Takes a bit of practice to get the feel of using them and the control of flow etc, once you've got the hang of it then it's fairly easy. Worth investing in one to use along side other techniques.

Just ordered an airbrush, going to practice on a couple of old Hornby coaches first. Keep up the great work

Amazing work Tim, as usual. Learnt a few new techniques. Really like the wash and buffer grease affect 👍. Also, thanks for doing the video as a voice over rather then writing it out. Being visually impaired it makes it much easier to follow and more enjoyable. Thanks, Tom 👍😊

Thanks Tom, the video turned out OK in this format, it was originally filmed for Hornby Magazine back last year so was narrated instead of text. I remastered the original video and added the usual music which all works well.

Nice to see a 37 sporting a Cardiff Canton Depot Plaque.

Great work. It must be so satisfying to do that to a 37. I don't think I'll ever be comfortable enough to weather a brand new model though.😁

Is there a way to weather locos without an air brush?
@chelmswoodjunction3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tim Brilliant video and great results I as a modeller do own a airbrush and rail match paints but am to scared to take my airbrush to my collection in fear of getting it wrong. So my question is what would you charge someone to do the affect you did on the class 37 ??? Many thanks and again a great video. Peter
@thescrapline49053 жыл бұрын
Thanks Peter. If you're on Facebook I could pop you a link to my weathering page and you can get in contact with me to run through some costs.

Nice job Tim i would say you have nailed the weathering spot on for what these things would of been like during the era you layout is set in. Im about to start weather my freight stock so your videos will come in handy. one question what aairbrush do you use and could i get away with using a cheap airbrush when starting then buy a more expensive one? really great effort mate.- Nicholas.
@thescrapline49053 жыл бұрын
Thanks Nik. The airbrush I'm using in this video is a Voilamart which is in the budget range, it works well and has seen good use over the last few years as long as its cleaned out well. I've upgraded since filming this video a few months ago and use a Harder & Steinbeck on and off now.

Stunning as always , if you do commissions at some point I'm looking for some extremely weather worn, shabby Westerns...

Cheers Mark. I do indeed, drop a message at some point.

what is the trick to undoing this kind of work eg if you botch it? That layer of varnish that you put on pre-weathering, does that mean that you can effectively just remove the weathering with the diluted Isopropyl alcohol should you make a mistake?

whats the best way to fade red paint please ...
@thescrapline49053 жыл бұрын
For this I find red often fades to an almost grey with a hint of pink shades. Keep an eye out for my next weathering video which Is going to feature faded effects in blue. The method can be used in any colour.
