WOW just found your channel. Getting back into modeling after 45 years. Beautiful work on that rail car. Need to see how you did the roof. The realism of your work is outstanding ! Had to subscribe and will need to watch all your videos. Although I'm planning to do mostly autos i think your techniques will carry over. The Vallejo paint looks like a wonderful product. Thanks for sharing . Regards from Texas

Thanks! Sadly the layout has gone. Unfortunately I don't have the space to build another as it stands. There may be a comeback in the not to distant future, but with diorama building.

Hello, Great ideas and ways to make loads.. Just curious as to why you are adding the IPA to the load before you soak it with the 50/50 mix of PVA and glue...?

Great layout, do you by any chance have any track plans on paper or digitally? I always like looking at these sort of things for inspiration and learning how to get realistic track flow. I use SCARM for mine and whilst I have an excellent layout idea I am not happy with it in terms of operational flow. I have an overlapping double loop mainline shape so it climbs up at the back, comes around and goes above itself. I have limited space so no separate fiddle yard but instead have a small set of sidings with a TMD. I have a branch line coming off this but it runs into a station and 'into' a fake tunnel that is a dead end. I wish I had room to make that go into a reversing loop instead but sadly I do not.

When you say you use two parts isopropyl to one part water, you need to specify the strength of the isopropyl you're using. It's widely available as, e.g., 99% and 70% and probably others. 2:1 diluting 99% will take you to about 70%, whereas 2:1 diluting 70% will take you to only about 45%, which is a huge difference.

Hi Tim, love your channel and all the new subsequent videos you have done since this one. As a newcomer and having studied Exeter St Davids for some time now for my new layout, I wonder if you have a track plan (pdf/drawing markup/Anyrail file) or would you be happy to share what points (i.e. in terms of short, medium, long), slips and crossings you have used; primarily to the south, where the tracks out of platforms 01 and 03 either go towards the south or torwards Exeter Central? I have nervously been putting this off while I try and get my head around it but you do seem to have mastered it! Thank you in advance!

You do beautiful work! Just curious, why you choose a gloss clear instead of a matte clear to seal the layers? I've always used matte to seal mine.
@thescrapline4905
@thescrapline4905 Жыл бұрын
Done in gloss as it's an easier base to use for the next layer of acrylic paints. These are normally airbrushed on and most cleaned back. Matt varnish would make it difficult to remove anything applied on top. Once it's all done then matt or satin varnish is done to seal the lot in.

Good tutorial. One question, starting at 3:38: Do you then use water or thinner to finish the rust a bit? So first powder + thinner to apply and then water to detail and refine? Thx!

what is the trick to undoing this kind of work eg if you botch it? That layer of varnish that you put on pre-weathering, does that mean that you can effectively just remove the weathering with the diluted Isopropyl alcohol should you make a mistake?

Living in Dawlish I regularly travel through St David’s. The layout is very well put together and running with recorded sounds made it very enjoyable to watch. I spent an hour at the station the other day and apart from the arrival of a castle Hst, it was very uninspiring. Thanks for sharing Andy
