You have inspired me to start a granny square blanket. I love the idea of making a large granny square by just keep going. I learned to crochet when I was 10 by my Aunt Aggie who lived next door to us. About 10 years ago I expanded my knitting knowledge with help from a friend. I love them both, knitting and crocheting. I also love to cross stitch and do my own framing. I worked at a cross stitch shop in the early 90’s and the owner was also a professional framer. She taught me framing techniques that I still use today. Thank goodness for our crafts. They bring us joy and comfort.

I do enjoy your enthusiasm! I had covid in January and felt I did not have the bandwidth to work on my bigger sweater projects. I got hooked on my Northeasterly scrap blanket. I am using up all those pieces of 3 gm or less held single that are left after a project and the coziest memories blanket have used what they needed. In 2017 I started a log cabin blanket using worsted scraps from various sources. 16 squares complete but not sewn together and waiting for 5 years. It fell out of the closet on me last week. That is a sign to finally complete it if I ever heard one so now I am adding borders and sewing together. Great fun.

That is definitely going to be a long-term project, but I’m loving it! Have a great weekend! 😊

I think it’s SO fun doing scrappy blankets! Just the quick pan you did with the granny on your chair caught my eye with several “favorite” blocks, even though I knew you usually just reached in the bag and took whatever yarn. Now if I can just put down my hand quilting to start a blanket. Lord knows I have enough scraps! 🥴 Well done, Kay.

Love your granny squares! Especially the giant one. Back before my wrists decided to hate crocheting, I crocheted each of our 6 kids a giant granny square blanket (back when the baby was actually a baby and the oldest was 6). They still use them, mostly as shawls while doing school during the cold winters. Thank you for your afterthought heel video and tips. I could never get one to fit until that tutorial. I may just try a toe up sock again. Happy yarning, Kay!
