Russian naval planners are more competent than their army counterparts, despite the army being the backbone of Russia's military. They seem to have done everything right to me, so I'll write something on doctrine which I hope they will find useful! Everyone knows that Russia has 4 fleets: Northern, Baltic, Black Sea, and Pacific. As such, her fleets cannot respond to one another and must act independently, something many western analysts cite as the russian navy's biggest weakness. However, her weakness is also her strength. 1. Because Russia spans 3/4 of the eurasian landmass, she has instant access to 4 watery regions. 2. Russia is not dependent on sea routes for internal supply of military bases (except the aleutians and the arctic), that makes the navy's job of defending Russia much easier. Doctrinally, the choice of small and medium surface ships is the right one. These need not go very far, or be deployed for very long; they should stay close to port and be rotated fairly regularly. They should be used as SENTINELS with the technologies focused on detection, agility, and self-preservation (electronic countermeasures!). They should operate in tandem with land-based aircraft, or even venture further, but not too much further. They should have a small armament of advanced and highly deadly missiles to sink high value targets (if possible). The decision to invest most heavily in the submarine fleet is also correct. These are the navy's real teeth. Submarines (nuclear-powered) will be the ones venturing into deep waters or (diesel-electric) sink enemies approaching Russia's coastline. Key naval bases must be fortified to the utmost degree, and the british-ukrainian drone attack on Sevastopol showed us that the russian navy has the capabilities (thank God).

Russians saved their burning carrier. Americans failed and their carrier was totaled - in a port! Try again.

Imagine if Russia’s defense budget was bigger. They’d scare the pants off the Americans.

Yeah India is also having these gorshkov frigates as they are the best in their class. But brahmos is inferior in range because it's faster then oniks as brahmos has speed of 3.2 mach and oniks has 2.6 mach, so slower the speed greater the range as you save more fuel on slow speeds. In true sense Brahmos is the most powerful sibling of oniks as it is world's deadliest anti-ship and land attack missile which can be launched from land, sea ,underwater submarines and from air by Indian sukhois. Dont believe check on internet, Brahmos is better variant of oniks developed by India and Russia.👍🙏🇮🇳

A warship cannot go machs. Mach is the flight speed unit surpassing a thousand km/h which is faster than any warship can go

The World thought Russia is impotent until Syria happened.

And then they thought they were impotent again when they retreated from the Ukraine border!

@@BeKindToBirds It's funny likewhen people like you convince themselves that Russia is going to war and cry "aggression" even though Russia was saying the whole time it's an exercise don't worry. And they finish the training and go back to bases, you cry Russia was scared. You really live in a parallel universe where you build your own lies and base your opinions on them. Very funny.

@@tunisiandom9318 You can lie to yourself but you cannot lie to Ukraine or her allies! We see through the propaganda, putin is weak and getting weaker so he has to arrest his own people and murder his opponents. Why don't you go polish the floor in his palace?

@ You are the one who is saying the US "ran away" when Russia retreated troops from the ukraine border. 30 US soldiers beat 500 of the best and most experienced soldiers Russia had to offer, (with tanks and artillery support) leaving almost 300 dead with zero casualties. (February 7 2018 in , ask yourself who sent those men there to die and then abandoned them when they were losing) Putin is weak, his crown is slipping. He spends the money of you, your father, and your grandfather to buy 1 piece of garbage furniture from italy. Russia has killed every one of its corrupt leaders, not foreigners. Learn history, you will see it is your corrupt leader is really a short and weak man who murders YOUR brothers and does unspeakable things to YOUR daughters and sisters while you defend him wishing you could also hide behind money. Evil men have to convince others that all men are evil to stay in power.
