Awesome interview Luke. We love Benny the Butcher in leafs nation. The point you made about Wendal and Darcy and Gary and how we love those types of guys and players is so true. For years now we’ve craved that style of play on this team. Some hammers instead of always being the nail. Watching Benny and McCabe paired together and just giving everything they have to defend and make the other team pay a price is beautiful. Gimme 2 more guys who compete and defend as hard as Benoit and it would make a huge difference to this team. Benny seems like a loyal guy and I hope he loves living in Toronto because he’s gonna be here for a while.

Love to see two of our former SD Gulls players talking it up. I remember bowling with Simon in the lane next to me. It was his first year and he was so polite and quiet. The following year we had Luke "Gazdaddy" and Sam Carrick in our lanes with lots of pitchers of beer flowing. That was a great night. Had so much fun hanging out with you guys. It's great to see everyone doing so well and Luke, keep rocking that 80's night jersey in the background. I bid on that bad boy, but word got around that you had someone bidding on your behalf. It's awesome to see.

Leaf fans are hilarious. Benoit led Anaheim in hits last year. He signs in Toronto and nobody knows who he is. He plays for the Marlies and nobody knows who he is. He gets called up because of injuries and nobody knows who he is. He plays the way he plays and Leaf fans are surprised at how physical he is. I think Simon would get a lot better at fighting if he did it more often. He's got a lot of reach but his balance is sketchy. It would be great having him and Reaves in the lineup every night. As far as neck guards and neck injuries go, I'm more shocked that I have never seen a player lose a finger when the gloves are off during huge scrums and half the guys are on all fours. Referees, players, hands on the ice and aggression would almost guarantee that people are getting fingers stepped on. It doesn't happen though. Weird.
