Number 9 hive has been very active! We split three hives a couple of weeks ago and all three had charged queen cups. We knew 9 was probably getting ready to swarm, so it was time to dig deep and see what we find as well as plan a split.... or something. Best production comes when you don't split, but that depends on swarm prevention too. #beekeepingmarket #Beekeeper #Honeybee #badgerandbee

Why are the bees trying split/swarm with basically an empty super? Im new to bee keeping and my hives are set up as 1 deep 1 super. I thought that the bees would expand and fill the super before they would start attempting to split?
