Would love to see the homeowner snap his fingers and the insurance agent suddenly appears and says, "We got you covered." Liberty bibberty...

Complete negligence by whoever is responsible for that dam. They should have brought a crane in days ago to clear that debris from the other side.

All of this flooding reminds me of the historic flooding that hit Hardin County, TN back in February 2019...over 1,000 homes were affected and over 100 roads were closed as a result of the flooding, with quite a few of those roads having parts of them washed away due to the flooding. Now, even though that county only had around 25,000 to 30,000 people or so, the fact that over 1,000 homes were affected in such a rural area showed just how significant of an impact that the flooding had, but that it also shows just how significantly destructive that a flood like that could hit the Twin Cities area, which has around two thirds of the around 6,000,000 or so people that live in Minnesota. I hope that it never gets THAT bad with the flood that we are having right now.

Okay so this HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY YEAR🙄It was higher in 2019! So STOP acting like this is a rarity! Fear mongers! Maybe they shouldn’t have put apartments there🙄

So sad to see an iconic building go over the cliff , Just shows if you dont keep up on debris cleanup as you now have a massive bill coming . Preventative measures could have avoided all this.

Could they not just block the river by building big walls around it? That way they would end up with more land rather than less and they ouldn't need a bridge anymore so they could make a nice sculpture out of it instead.

To take the dam out would cost 81 million $? Seems to me it took itself out for free.

Harriet island has been underwater dozens of times, this is real history. So today, this is just more of the same. This is not some crazy 1000 year occurrence, dozen or more times within 100 years.

I have been saying what I needed to say for years, but people are too stupid to realize it, and what I am saying is that, whenever there is flooding in an area, there needs to be a bunch of pipes and sewage treatment plants that funnel away floodwaters to places that are more arid, and that lakes also need to be built into such areas in order to not only give those areas much needed water, but to also alleviate the flooding in other areas. Sadly, the idiotic and selfish pork barrel politicians, polititards, and envirotards will all balk at such a plan due to its cost, but I am convinced that such a plan will ironically not only reduce disaster relief costs, which people have been saying that FEMA is going to run out of money due to a string of recent disasters, but that it also makes a barrier of sorts against drought.

If the dam breaks it'll cause "environmental problems"....🤨 You mean it would cause the river to go back to pre-guman touch? How is that a bad thing?

YOU REALLY DONT WANT TO START A POLITICAL PROBLEM HERE DO YOU? This is a flood, it was more or less natural and it occurs naturally. If these newly created water blocks work, they should leave them in place and run the roads over them. It makes sense to stay prepared for the next one.

This is quite shocking for a developed country, not that theres flooding but that either people were not warned or not prepared and that the land where people are living is not secure from flooding.

If the flood assistance is anything like it was in 2012 in St Louis County, it will be physically and emotionally exhausting jumping through all the hoops in the end to get absolutely nothing. It was a joke. I remember emergency numbers you were supposed to call were posted everywhere and in the papers and on the news and virtually none of them were activated or working. Talk about the cart before the horse. If you did get ahold of anyone they just passed the buck. I had a pack of papers and documents nearly 2 inches thick that were useless. Worst experience of my life. I lost about 60% of my belongings. My house had minimal damage, but I lost everything in the basement except my new furnace. Total recovery in dollars was $zero. Then there was the cleanup.
