What is the fundamental difference between 1073 SFX MONO + EQ , 1073 DPX, 1073 DPA and 1073N please?
@AMSNeveLtd3 жыл бұрын
Hi, We manufacture several 1073 variations to cater for the needs of modern producers. Crucially, all of our 1073's are designed manufactured here in the UK by our team of skilled engineers. The modern 1073's have to meet our tight 1073 audio specification, based upon the original circuit designs from the 1970s and all feature our patented Marinair specification transformers to help produce the coveted Neve sound. The 1073SPX and DPX are both 19" rack format, the DPX features two identical 1073 channels, and the SPX features one. The DPX also has the addition of a headphone amp and the optional AD/DA digital conversion card. The 1073N is a true-to-form 80 series module that can be mounted into classic Neve consoles, housed in horizontal/vertical racks, or used standalone with an external PSU. The 1073DPA is a pure dual 1073 preamp, mounted in 19" rack format. The DPA does not include the 1073 EQ section and is ideal for those looking to add two channels of Neve front end to their recording system. Our 1073 range, including full specifications, can be accessed here - www.ams-neve.com/outboard/1073-range/ Our 1073 Buyers Guide can be accessed here - www.ams-neve.com/which-1073/

Is there any compromise on the pots and knobs or the contact switch? There are comains regarding the power supply as well. I am interested in this unit and worried also of the build quality. Can you clear my doubts on these issues?

Is it possible to link two SPX’s?

Hi guys! Sorry for the stupid question.. The recently released SPX-D has a stereo input and a stereo output (MONITOR). Can this stereo input be passed through an equalizer? That is, can the recently released SPX-D perform the function of a three-band stereo equalizer? Thank you very much for your help!

I bought one and absolutely love it on mics and synths. It's my go to now. I barely touch my other preamps. Does anybody know why there's such a different sound using a compressor/1176 through the insert send/return opposed to going from the neves output directly into the compressor? Which way is it interred to be used?
@AMSNeveLtd2 жыл бұрын
Hi, the difference you are hearing is due to the insert circuit placement in the signal chain. By adding an outboard compressor as an insert into the 1073SPX/DPX, the compressor is placed after the preamp gain stage, pre/post 1073EQ (depending on the PRE button setting), then crucially, before the 1073 output transformer and final gain stage. This design allows the entire chain to act as a custom 1073 channel strip, with the 1073 output transformer and gain final output level as the last level control for the chain.

@chandeleerjet5637 Жыл бұрын
@@priiintplayzz6219 yes after trying both ways multiple times i like the insert a lot better. A lot more control and you can quickly bypass it. Ive also grown to like the sound better as they intended it to be used

@@chandeleerjet5637 Thanks for the reply because I’m trying to figure out how to take advantage of this pre amp as much as I can lol . Can you properly tell me what is difference between putting the compressor through insert and send . I see that neve explained to you what it does differently than regularly hooking it through the input and output but can you simply what it do for me lol

So just got the spx. I have a la-2a with both xlr and trs ins and outs. Would I use inserts on spx to connect or just go from xlr from spx to trs on 2a? If you suggest insert, what would be benefit?
@Faithaven7 ай бұрын
Just to add to this now that. I saw the answer. So using the inserts would make sense I think as I could have compressor post eq and have the spx control the volume going to the interface rather than 2a

I’m very interested in purchasing either spx or DPX my question is how does the 2 ch benefit me in my home studio set up being that I know I’m going to be tracking vocals how is the 2 ch useful to me …? Tracking drum machines & synths…is it worth the extra $$$$ or go with the spx ?
@AMSNeveLtd2 жыл бұрын
Hi Marcus, The DPX features a built-in headphone monitoring system that can be ideal for tracking vocals - providing a simple solution to monitoring your vocals when jamming through the DPX offline. Plus, if you ever need to record a second vocal or guitar, for example, you have two identical channels ready to go. Of course, if you don't need any of this ever, the 1073SPX will be ideal for your studio.

hi i have dpx trying to find the right way of using it is having output trip to max and then adjusting the gain is best way or having the gain lets say at 40 45 and pulling back the output trip is best way? if im looking to get saturation
@AMSNeveLtd2 жыл бұрын
Hi Raza, The DPX has several gain & attenuation stages in its signal path as well as metering for each stage. Good practice is to set the meters to I/P and use the red gain switch to get a good input level. At this point, you can adjust the input level as desired, as high as +24 on the meters if you want to 'drive' the input stage. Next, set the meter to O/P. This is your final output level of the unit and is set by the Level pot. Adjust this control and monitor your DAW channel input meters, ensuring a good signal without clipping your DAW meters. If you choose to add EQ, be sure to meter the EQ stage on the DPX, to ensure you aren't adding/subtracting too much gain at this stage. Hope this helps.
