$3000 for a 2 in/1 out rack mount interface? I could buy an interface, a 500-series chassis, and multiple preamps and compressors for less than that. This product is detached from reality. I can’t imagine a single studio config where this is the optimal piece of gear; destined to sit unused by dentists and morons, next to their custom-built PRS.
@merrittsquared4 ай бұрын
Just because you and I can’t afford this or want to pay for this doesn’t mean it is detached. I would rather spend money like that differently but at the same time I think it is probably pretty awesome for someone else.
@BrendanMakesMusic4 ай бұрын
@@merrittsquared I could afford it just fine, it would just be a dumb purchase when I got an RME Babyface that does more than than this does for 1/3 the price
@merrittsquared4 ай бұрын
@@BrendanMakesMusic ahhh, so you don’t need it or want it. That’s a different story. There’s a lot of gear that I don’t need or want for various reasons but if someone were to send it to me I would probably think it was kind of cool. Which is sort of the problem with KZbinrs these days. Once you get sent something (for free) you sort of are biased towards the company and/or product. I may agree with you on the price of this particular gear but if Sweetwater sent it to me I would say….well this is neat.

This product is a joke. USB 2.0!? A Direct/DAW mix knob instead of monitoring software!? This thing is already outdated, and for a $1200 up charge!?!?!?!? You’d be MUCH better off getting a regular 1073 and a 2 channel Apollo
@BrendanMakesMusic7 ай бұрын
There’s lots of issues with it, but I haven’t used a separate monitoring chain in fifteen years. First with a Clarett thunderbolt then with RME, all monitoring is in the box. Separate monitoring chains and onboard DSP have been irrelevant since the mid 2010’s. USB 2.0 is plenty for zero latency audio, the issue is developing good enough drivers and having a decently powerful computer; see RME.
@bigstevedzn23536 ай бұрын
@@BrendanMakesMusic Yes but it’s insane that it’s a 1200$ price increase. You could purchase the regular 1073 SPX, AND an Apollo twin quad that comes with the 1176 and 2a bundles etc… for the same exact price, potentially cheaper. Not to mention you get the DSP option (which is fading I know), but the plugins that come bundled also are available natively now. And theoretically there is no real difference between USB 2.0 and 3.0 C, but USB C has been adopted and mainstream for the better part of a decade now. From a creature comfort and quality of life standpoint it should have USB 3.0 C, considering it’s $3000. Which you could get a superior BAE 1073 for. The product simply suffers from trying to appeal to pro-ish consumers, whilst most pros or people semi-serious about music already have an interface etc… and the daw/direct mix control is completely obsolete if you have any other gear in your chain. I agree though, RME is great.

I currently run an ISA 2 with a focus rite 18i8 as my main sound source into the pc Does this neve run independently and simultaneously while the 18i8 is running. Into the pc ? Or would I direct a signal into the a dry 18i8 slot? Hopefully my question makes sense lol Thanks in advance

Why are there not more 32-bit interfaces?
@SonarHD7 ай бұрын
That’s because even 24bit cannot be physically surpassed due to the internal noise from the circuitry within the audio interface itself (as well as the preamps, and any outboard gear being used). IOW, it’s physically impossible! There would have to be a FUNDAMENTAL change in the way we make circuits in order to surpass 24bit recording. Let me put it this way, even the most expensive converter in the world (think Lavry, Prism Sound, etc) can’t record clean audio at 24bit, which gives a theoretical noise floor of -144 dB. I haven’t checked in a while, but the lowest noise floor I’ve seen an interface achieve is around -130 dB, which are unaffordable for most people. In any case, we’re talking things beyond the human ear capabilities. Plus, modern converters (even cheap ones) are much more capable than they were 20 years ago. Not to say that there’s not an audible difference between a cheap converter and an expensive one, but considering what most people use to listen to music these days, it really doesn’t matter lol.

Hi guys! I'm very sorry for the stupid question... 1073SPX-D - сan this new legendary mic preamp also work as an analog STEREO equalizer? I ask because this time it has a stereo input (MONITOR). Well, or at least, can it pass stereo material fed via USB via a PC through its analog equalizer? That is, to be like audio interfaces with a built-in equalizer. Thank you very much!

If I'm being picky, at that price point I would have liked to see two sets of ADAT so you can actually record the advertised 9 channels higher than 48k, or have the option to add 16 channels at 48k. Also a little let down by 24 bit being the max bit rate, 32 is very quickly becoming the standard. Anyone wondering about USB 2.0 not being fast enough, it totally is. USB 2.0 is dialed in and efficient these days it can handle 32 channels if input and output audio without noticeable latency.

What the hell did they put inside of this that justifies this bonkers price and who the hell is going to say "Hey I definetly need this, there is no way I'll take the 100 different other products that cost a FRACTION of this piece of gear? What was going on inside their heads when they were engineering this and determining the listing price?? Who can afford this crap? Only youtubers with their own Successful channels that get it for free!!! and Studio companies that actually make money from mixing...
