I just run across your u-tube on the Javelin AMX. Just wanted to briefly tell about mine. I ordered my Javelin AMX new in March of 1973, it took 6 weeks to build. I took delivery of it the last week of April that year. I ordered the 401 Go-Pac with functional cowl induction, 4-speed manual, 3.91 rear gears. I also ordered tinted windows, inside hood release, AM-FM Motorola 4 speaker stereo radio, body side scuff molding, in dash map light, light group and center console. The exterior color is gold metal flake Cordoba Brown, and gold fade to black hood T-stripe with all black vinyl interior. The AMX stickered at $4371.90, of that the somewhat rare Go-Pac option cost $476.25. The Go-Pac option along with the functional cowl induction, appears to only have been ordered on roughly 3725 AMX's of the 10490 AMX's built between 1971 to 1973. One could not order the functional cowl induction option on the 4980 1974 Javelin AMX built with the Go-Pac option. There are some that state, and I am of that belief, the cowl induction system works so well, that an additional 5% to 7% horse power increase can be realized with the said, functional cowl induction. The functional cowl induction will have a metal screen along the raised portion of the hood in front of the windshield, to let the high pressure air in. The underside of the hood will have a V shaped duck work, leading to the special air cleaner and a vacuum door with a rubber seal that mates to the opening in the duck work. The non functional hood will have a solid metal plate welded in place of the screen at the raised portion where the air inlet would be. There will be no duck work under the hood, and a conventional air cleaner will replace the special one. My Javelin AMX has always been garaged and put on jack stands when in storage, to help keep from having spring sag. The only changes that have been done the the AMX is the replacement of the stock intake with the rare 1970 cast iron Rebel Machine Intake, the removal of the air injection smog pump. The front sway bar has been replaced with a larger 1 in. bar, along with the addition of a 1/2 in, rear sway bar. This AMX is a fantastic handling car, along with great over the top acceleration. It will stay with my family for many years to come.

I never knew that Nash and Hudson merged to form AMC. I knew that chrysler bought em out in the 80s though. I guess you can consider AMC as the redheaded step child of mopars. I have to ask, as someone who wants one of these as my first car, how does it drive??

First thanks for watching!!! Second I think the Hudson tie in is why Dodge is bring back the Hornet name plate. Lastly it drives my like an early 70s cars. To compare it to a modern car os not fair the suspension is softer and the road feel is less. Also it has a carburetor on it so when out of tune not as responsive as the new EFI cars. All that neing said the aftermarket can help "fix" all of that. You put some high performance shocks on it and a good sway bar and the suspension would tighten up pretty quick. You could get a newer carburetor that is more user friendly or even switch the an EFI system and have the throttle response you want. It was a blast to ride in and I hope you find one! Also the TV shoe HOT Rod Garage built one out if you get a chance check it out.

Thanks for a great vid. Wonderful car. However as an AMC enthusiast I really need to point out that Chrysler/Mopar had NOTHING to do with AMC in 1973 other than supplying them with the Torqueflite 727 automatic transmissions - which this car obviously does not have. Why spend so much time discussing Lee Iococca/1987/Jeep when you are sporting a pretty rare 1973 muscle car with a tremendous race history?

Thanks for watching, I agree that they were not MOPAR at that time. The reason I went into detail about the buyout was to hopefully educate viewers on why there was an AMC on a MOPAR channel. I'm sure most of the viewers knew that info already but I want to make sure as I hope to do more AMCs in the future.

@@Yourpar fair enough amigo! AMC was the great American little guy that did a lot things right. When they finally showed up to the racing scene in the late '60's there were a lot of people who were amazed - (where'd these guys come from??) and to this day a lot of Big 3 guys who STILL can't get over it. Thanks for your enthusiasm. You are lucky to have taken a spin in that yellow AMX...

I had that same exact car, in white. Only exception was that mine had the Pierre Cardin interior. I loved that car, but in reality it was a piece of junk. Very poorly built. I sold it cheap in the late 70's because I was young and dumb and didn't like working on cars. Oh, if I only had it now.... I agree with this owner - it is still my favorite car as far as styling goes.

I will try and be brief, my wife and I had our second kid and working a full time job and doing this was making it difficult to be a dad and husband. So I decided to take some time off until our oldest got a little more self sufficient. Then Covid happened and I haven't had the time to get back to doing videos. I hope to this next car show season but only time will tell. I do appreciate you watching and asking.
