How in the world is waiting to have kids a modern thing to do?? Why didn’t johnathan quote scripture after saying that scripture is against waiting??? Is it not recorded in the Bible the generations of men who had their first child when they were 100yrs old+?? They preach often on here how we should marry quickly, so he honestly believes we should quickly marry, and quickly reproduce with our brand new spouse. I’m sorry but 3 years is NOT a long time to wait for kids 😭. He admits to not planning his second child & his wife being emotional about it which likely means they were in a period of waiting to keep having more children. Why is it bad to wait to have your first child, but fine to wait for your second? If the reason is to wait until you settle into parenthood with the first, then that completely goes against what he said about waiting to have your first kid. My husband and I come from complete opposite parenting styles. I’m sorry but I do not want to traumatize my kid. We will not start trying for kids until we seek some sort of Christian counseling. God can intervene any time he wants, but he’s already at the center of all of our decisions. I am positive God prioritizes health in our family and household over trying with every fiber of our being to reject whatever johnathan perceives as “modern ideology.” Our relationship with our spouse should be prioritized greater than our children, so it’s absolutely right to use the first 1-3 years of marriage to work everything out. Premarital counseling can’t work out all your problems. I think it’s a huge yikes that he’s telling people this. I honestly think JP oftentimes is overconfident in his OWN beliefs on certain topics and sells his opinions as biblical, when they’re really just his opinions. I mean how can he say him and his wife wrestled with making a decision to stop having children, but wrestling about when to start having kids is unbiblical 🤣 JP’s authority must be much higher than ours, if he’s allowed to wrestle with decisions but we arent 🤣

Thank you for being so diligent and compassionate in how you all answer the hard questions. This episode was super helpful to me and helped me with some questions I've had, and I think this episode will also help me lead the girls I'm discipling better.

I struggle with the idea that "Be fruitful and multiply" is a command that applies to believers today since that was given to Adam and Noah when the population was very low. Jesus came to create a new family through those who believe in him no longer based off of the idea of biological descent.

I don’t think being fruitful and multiplying necessarily mean bringing kids into the world. We can bear fruit wherever God desires us to be, so it’s in some ways a matter of following the nudges of the Holy Spirit. Fruit could be creating resources to disciple others or in supporting the marriage that’s trying to disciple those kids. It could be in caring for others in need and being able to point them to Christ by your life, love, and compassion.

@@EasyCompanyEagle that's a little bit of a stretch. Moreover, the population is still alarmingly low.

It is incredibly offensive to hear you joke about having your wife get her tubes tied before you would get a vasectomy.

Be fruitful and multiply is on OT. It was a command to populate the earth. But in NT I see bigger focus on making desciples in all nations, as the earth is already populated, what more over-populated😌 of course children are a blessing, but I don't really see myself to have biological children, rather to adopt😊

This doesn’t speak as a level of scriptural command and the Bible doesn’t say anywhere that it’s a sin if you don’t want kids or see them as a blessing in your life. This hole episode is and opinion and not a quote of scripture.

If the Word of God says something and you disagree, it's probably not the Word that's wrong 🙏🏽 this is a nuanced topic, of course. I think the overall answer is children are a blessing from God and we should have as many as we are capable of discipling well.

@@peanutbutterknittingyeah but his point was that their opinion (and yours) is not biblical. You didn’t quote scripture other than “children are a gift from God” …that is true (because it’s biblical) but it in no way means anything else you stated after that. You can have your OPINION, but don’t state it as scripture. The commenter didn’t say he disagreed with anything that came from the Word of God. He disagrees with them using their own opinions as “Biblical advice.”

@@ThingEmmie21 And you thinks it's biblical to chose when and how you receive a gift from God? It just doesn't line up.

@8:55 did the blonde guy just say that his wife getting a tubal ligation is “less invasive” than his vasectomy?!?! Go do some research. Additionally does he know what women go through in childbirth? You have peoples faces and fingers and instruments all up in your business for hours. Plus going through the most painful experience. Oh and while we are on the subject, what women go through on a regular basis with just regular doctors visits. Clearly he doesn’t know what a speculum is. Grow up and quit whining.
