A tip which has worked well for me to find the best scope position for sight picture/ eye relief is to start with the end of the eyepiece above the low point of the thumb scoop part of the stock and make small adjustments from there. I've also found it's a good idea to do the adjusting while in a typical shooting stance/position I'll be in when using that setup.

Hi, firstly thanks for producing the great content. I have a content request for you. In a previous video discussing pellet testing, a short range method was mentioned using a vice. I’ve been experimenting with this method using a plastic 3D printed tripod vice mounted on a butler style gun rest. I would be very interested is seeing the method you described, and an understanding how many shots you would take, and what spread of impact point you would use to make a decision upon pellet compatibility. Many thanks from John.

Generally a good video, thank you. However, I'm sorry but I disagree with you on one point, the scope should be set up so it is at the right height for the person shooting it, considering the eye relief, head placement and cheekweld. This is NOT always as low as possible. Plus some people deliberately set a higher scope height, as it can aid range finding, say in HFT for example. Setting a low scope does flatten the trajectory,, that is true. But once you learn your aim points for any scope/rifle combo it will not matter anyway.

Totally agree with what you’re saying. But as we stated this info was for a total novice, someone who hasn’t experienced scope heights, angles of trajectory or learning hold over etc.

Also in HFT this lowest position is really what your after as you cannot adjust the scope during the course however in FT yes I agree dialling in is aided with the snap focus allowing the difference in aim points to be greater
And setting the crosshairs vertically in relation to the barrel - essential but no mention?????. When setting eye relief, mount the rifle with your eye closed and find the most natural, repeatable, position - then move the scope accordingly. C'mon guys, you are improving with each episode but you are both far better than this video.

I agree more could have been done but this was us trying to keep it for beginners yes setting crosshairs was missed I normally mount the rifle flat in holder and set using the lines from a brick wall or a garage door. I will mention this at the start of the next video which will be more structured:) thanks for the comment and we will aim to improve each time
