Love my Xootr Venus...off to Japan in 5 weeks with 30 lbs of camping gear attached to the front stem, deck and handlebars. Great for train travel with the dedicated Xootr bag which doubles as a gear carrier on the Xootr itself.

Just got a gen 4 with a carry strap and it is the best kick scooter out there. The weak point on this scooter was the folding mechanism but gen 4 fixed that in a huge way. It folds and unfolds in seconds with no locking pin. Boy does this thing glide and it is built solid.

If you use the Xootr for real transportation, the price actually seems low.

I am surprised these hosts put such an underlining emphasis on the price as a potential deterrent. It’s all relative and to compare a Xootr to a Razor is to compare a Shelby Mustang to a Ford Fiesta with a couple racing stripes. As an owner of both Xootr and Razor products, I can attest that the materials quality is vastly different, plus the Xootrs are made in America while Razor imports everything from China. If you place price over quality, longevity and user experience, Razor does make an “adult” scooter for the host-recommended selling price of around $100. Clearly these technology “experts” need to conduct additional research before they make their recommendations to the masses that watch their channel. Perhaps their next product review could be of a $5000 high-end mountain bike, then make a snarky comment how the cost is too expensive and that bicycles shouldn’t cost more than $200-300. Bottom line: you get what you pay for and certain products are tailored to specific markets.

the reason its so expensive is probably because virtually noone else sells travel kick scooters

this video was uploaded in 2009, guessing it was made then, the price hasn't dropped. I had one in college, think 2003 or so, it's great when it's brand new, but as the unsealed bearings get dirty it's not as smooth just like all bearing using devices. I wish they would make a softer wheel. Also the low ground clearance is both a good and bad thing, makes it very stable and kicking is very easy, BUT in you go over uneven pavement, the bottom of the deck gets scratched up. great for adults

Well, it's 3 years later and the price of the scooter is basically the same. Actually, xootr.com sells that 'street' model for $289 + $20 for the fender/brake, so it's actually gone up since then? They do offer the exact same thing, that's slightly lighter and holds a person weight up to 250lbs, for $250 with the fender/brake. It's the 'xootr mg' model. I got the 'mg' because I weigh less than 200lbs. Anyway, it's worth the price to me for how much money on gas it saves me, and saves time.

Nice reviews. Your suggested price points for the Xooter are too low for an adult mode of transportation. It's not a toy. It's also made in the USA. I feel Xooter has priced its scooters fairly.
