Really enjoyed this a lot, long time Underoath fan. 1 Define the great line 2 Lost in the Sound… 3 Disambiguation and honestly that can change from week to week probably lol. I’m working on my first album (mainly instrumentals because I don’t have much of any vocal chops) and it was interesting hearing everyone’s thoughts on what makes a good album.

Two fun facts!: “I’m Pretty Sure…” from Voyeurist is an homage/callback to a B Side from TOCS called “I’ve Got Ten Friends And A Crowbar That Says You Won’t Do Jack” and 2) Reversal from Disambiguation is the drums (I think; could be a different instrument) played normally, then reversed throughout the song, hence “reversal” which is why it sounds like a sample almost

I couldn't disagree more with ending of LITSOS take. That song perfectly encapsulated the whole vibe of the record. You can tell it has an almost post-apocalyptic feel to it, and the ending songs feel like the emptiness that comes from that world. Also, it's one of those songs that Chris Dudley pretty much leads the way on, and he loves making soundtrack style songs. I think it's perfect, and I love listening to that song on it's own sometimes.

I discovered Underoath back on TOCS, in highschool. But it is nearly tied for my least favorite album of theirs - a half-step above Erase Me. Underoath really shines when they get progressive. That is the true Underoath sound. Catchy pop melodies and predictable song structures throughout an entire album, like those mentioned above, make the experience of Underoath fall flat.

Disclaimer: also I don't count TCOT at all 😅. It's a whole different band with Spencer.
