A couple of notes, Paul Walker never owned this car. I spoke with the owner of the car who sold it to the previous caretaker & knew Paul Walker never owned it & has the documents for it. I was the underbidder on the GT2 RS Club Sport & the black GT3 RS 4.0. As for the Club Sport, note that this car went up at the end of the sale when there were very few people there. Having done a lot of private events with some GT2 RS CS cars, it is really fast but it’s not so much faster than a standard GT2 RS. Also, it’s not much of a car for sound. It’s very quiet. A GT3 RS sounds a heck of a lot better. As for the Sally 911, the person who bought the car wasn’t into cars & just wanted the tax right off. I’m so glad the charity raised so much money. Jay Ward was so stoked. It was so nice to see him so happy. It was great talking to him afterwards.

I'll be honest, I almost didn't go beyond the first 10 mins, after listening to everyone berate "speeders", "revvers" and burnouts. It made me cringe. That being said, I'm glad I stuck it out as the auction and Sally content was very good. Thank you for sharing.

Since you mentioned me by name I feel I need to clarify. My comment was in support of B.R. Laue's comment regarding Car Week and its impact on the local community. The arrests made in Carmel were not for someone simply being pulled over for running a stop sign. There were physical altercations between some bad actors and police. These incidents were specific to Carmel and was a rerun of what happened there last year. Generally Car Week is peaceful. Elevation 911's comments regarding some KZbinr stating Monterey was a police state (complete nonsense BTW) had nothing to do with Mr. Laue's and my comment.

Your collective knowledge of 928s is somewhat lacking. Condition is all relative, and this particular example has lots of concours provenance behind it. Have y'all been to a PCA concours in recent history? PLENTY of mediocre, unimpressive examples of all models. Anyhow, 928s aren't as common as 911s, and typically aren't in the condition that 911s are in. Simple supply and demand suggests that the nicest examples will fetch a lot of money. Nevertheless, the typical PCA and Porsche purist crowd are very dismissive whenever a 928 fetches a big amount, and are quick to remind everyone that one sale doesn't make a market, etc. To put the rarity of the car into perspective, Porsche sold 406 North American 964 3.6 Turbos in 1994 alone. They sold exactly the same number of 928 GTSs in North America for all years of production (1992 - 1995, with 1992s being sold as early '93 cars). A reminder that not everyone who wants a 928 is buying it as a substitute for a 911 - for many of us, there is no substitute for the 928.

Andrew, I wonder why this 95 has early GTS wheels on it though? 95 used a 993 look 17 with no TPMS and 93 and 94 had TPMS with 964 styled wheels .. hmmm

@@charleyfolkes someone must’ve preferred the look of the Cup I wheels. I prefer the Cup II, myself. Regardless, a relatively easy fix.

Thanks for sharing! We're happy 928s are finally getting the respect they deserve. Our crew's surprise at this sale partly reflects just how quickly GTSs (especially manuals) have gone from $100,000+ cars to realizing $400,00+ potential in just the past five years. In fact, we're kind of surprised at how well Porsches in general did at the auctions, considering how the market has softened a bit in the past year.
