Episode 28: Static Electricity - The Mechanical Universe

Episode 28. Static Electricity: Eighteenth-century electricians knew how to spark the interest of an audience with the principles of static electricity.
“The Mechanical Universe,” is a critically-acclaimed series of 52 thirty-minute videos covering the basic topics of an introductory university physics course.
Each program in the series opens and closes with Caltech Professor David Goodstein providing philosophical, historical and often humorous insight into the subject at hand while lecturing to his freshman physics class. The series contains hundreds of computer animation segments, created by Dr. James F. Blinn, as the primary tool of instruction. Dynamic location footage and historical re-creations are also used to stress the fact that science is a human endeavor.
The series was originally produced as a broadcast telecourse in 1985 by Caltech and Intelecom, Inc. with program funding from the Annenberg/CPB Project.

Duas cargas elétricas puntiformes estacionárias produzem entre si uma força que , é diretamente proporcional ao produto das cargas e inversamente proporcional ao quadrado da distância entre elas ( F = ( Ke . q1q2 ) / r² ) . 2 . Há materiais que espalham as cargas elétricas em sua superfície ( ou seja conduzem cargas elétricas ) denominados condutores . 5 . Ao ligarmos um objeto eletrizado a Terra através de um condutor elétrico , neutralizamos as cargas elétricas deste objeto , pois as cargas elétricas fluem entre o objeto e a Terra . 6 . Podemos eletrizar um objeto neutro por contato simplesmente tocando-o com um outro objeto eletrizado ( caso do eletroscópio ) . 7 . Podemos eletrizar um objeto neutro por atrito com um outro objeto neutro ( caso do gerador que usa vidro em rotação ) . 8 . Podemos eletrizar um objeto neutro por indução aproximando dele um outro objeto eletrizado chamado indutor até que ele separe as cargas elétricas no objeto induzido e , em seguida ligamos o objeto induzido a Terra até que sobrem nele cargas elétricas de sinal contrário ao indutor .
