I don't watch tv and I've spent most of my life travelling the world. I had ( genuinely! ) never heard of 'Still Game'. Cue the following: being hospitalised after my confinement to a bath due to being paralysed for six whole days; followed by dying a few times ; followed by a two week coma ; followed by a weekend of hell caused by the most useless nurses on the planet. My first Sunday night after coming out of my coma. A fantastic nurse saw how bad I was - those useless nurses had broken me. I have NEVER felt so beaten upon, neglected and abandoned in my life! I just wanted to be left alone in order to cry. So that nurse has no idea how much of a miracle her subsequent kindness meant to me. Know what she did? She gave me a couple of sandwiches left over from lunch as well as some biscuits - served on a 100 per cent genuine China saucer - and a cup of tea. With these close -at-hand she placed a DVD player loaded with.....'Still Game' Series 3 in-front of me. During the following six weeks in hospital I watched - over, and over, again - all six series. Sooooo.......being paralysed wasn't a completely bad thing.

I love the slapstick at the beginning, starts at 0:37, pure solid for 45 seconds up until the epic prophecy of the fate of the boy at Timpsons. The next 30s is a good setup for the rest of the episode and another near-immediate callback. At 8:40 we get a 20 second reminder of the perils of Craiglang, then everything from 23:49 until the end is perfection. Honestly, I love the whole episode, even the 80s dark comedy crisis that starts at 3:37, just fantastic writing! These fellas are comedy scientists!

He tells you at the end, the guy from Hawaii Five-O, 1960-70s tv show. There was a remake a few years ago
@nandep21493 жыл бұрын
28:30 (Ay, 'eez deed.) 🌺 John "Jack" Lord portrayed the character, Steve Mcgarrett on the original Hawaii Five-0 from 1968 to 1980. After his death in 1998, his ashes were scattered at sea off the island of O'ahu (not far from my home). 💐 Fortunately, I was able to meet Jack Lord's costars: James MacArthur who played "Danno" and Kam Fong Chun who played "Chin Ho Kelly" in the original Hawaii Five-0. They have both passed on, as well. 💐 (James MacArthur's mother is Helen Hayes, the great theatre/film/TV actor w/a career which spanned 80 years.) 💐 Dennis Chun (the son of Kam Fong Chun) played HPD Sgt. Duke Lukela in the remake of the Hawaii Five-O television series, which ran from Sept. 2010 to April 2020. He's a fine talent and a genuinely nice person. 🙂 Commander Steve Mcgarrett was portrayed by Alex O'loughlin (Australian). His decision to leave the show (due to the impact of serious physical injuries and wanting to spend time w/his family) facilitated the end of that series. The Hawaii Five-0 ohana is grateful that Alex stayed as long as he could. 📽 🌊 I was blessed to play a police officer, CSU tech., and bit parts (numerous times) in the Hawaii Five-0 remake, throughout their 10 seasons. While it was fun and interesting work, the best part was the people -- the camaraderie amongst cast, crew, production, friends and family (ohana). 🏝🙂🤙
