Un-believable. Wow, just wow, truly a fantastic call. A real master of his craft

I just came across your videos. I’m an amateur call maker. I agree that wood is by far better to turn and it sounds better. Nothing better than seeing the grain “pop” when you oil it and buff it. I haven’t gotten to making my own inserts-so I I guess I’m more of a barrel maker-lol. Great looking calls

Hey Steve, always happy to hear from another callmaker and wood enthusiast!!! Let me know if there’s anything I can help with. Making your own inserts is a long journey, but a very rewarding one as well!

@@BearKraft There was an old guy around here that built them many years ago, his name was Bill Basket. He was a west Tennessee guy that moved her with his work. I would go visit him as often as I could and he made his own decoys out of cork and carved the wooden heads. I think I have 3 of his calls left, always think about him when I see them in my old case with other collectables.

That’s awesome, I’ll have to do some research on him. If you want to share some pictures of his calls, I’ll make sure he gets added to my friend’s online database for collectors. You can email me at bear.lyle@gmail.com

What size o-ring was used on this cal and how deep did you have to make groove? Loved the work you did on this call. Beautiful.
@BearKraft
@BearKraft 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Mostly just trial and error on the o-rings. I went to O’reillys and got a handful of different sizes to play around with, but you can order them from several guys. Just google “duck call o-rings”.

Just curious why you oiled them in a vacuum chamber rather than just letting them soak overnight
@BearKraft
@BearKraft 4 жыл бұрын
Vacuum accelerates the oil transfer and better saturates the wood.
