So I bought the same lathe machine and wanted to put that 5/8 expanding mandrel but that threaded piece where you put the mandrel in is to small is there something you buy so your 5/8 mandrel will fit?

I watched your video when your friend was filming you making the duck call. I have the same ⅝ expansion mandrel you use. I like it, but it fits really tight in the ⅝ hole. Have you had that problem. I know it needs to be snug, but I can hardly get the blank on the mandrel. Any suggestion. Thanks. rd

yes there's other attachments you can put on the other side, including a drill bit.

You could do everything on the lathe, however I find it easier to drill when the block is square and then turn down. Calls are small in size so easy to work around

Iron forged coin works, don’t think he is in business any more. Anyone can do it if they make the coin rings. Just send the inside diameter needed and they can make it work.

How long does it take to make the duck call

Depends on how much you want to put into it as far as detail. Can be 10min from square to round or 2 days if you epoxy and color different styles. Average is about 1hour once said and done

Is the band to keep the wood from splitting if you push the insert in to far or is it only decorative?

Band keeps the wood from splitting when wet. Best to seal and then band. Decorative for the most part

I don’t buy my tone boards from Echo and call it mine! Sorry!!! I buy my stuff shave my reeds tone boards turn my woods cut my wood!! Also cast resin my resins if pressure pots and resin vacuum my Woods with die all in my shop. Oh the bands too!! Thanks for asking.
