I have gone to therapy for 5 years and what I learned already in the beginning is: thoughts are just thoughts. Do not try to manipulate or control them. You should wonder, where are these coming from. Having negative thoughts is not wrong.

Agree 100%. As much as it is important to keep a positive perspective on life to keep us going, negative thoughts are normal. It is important to look at them to understand where they come from. Forcing yourself into too much positivity can have a very negative outcome in he end.

Yup, there is no positivity without negativity :) basic facts! One can't exist without the other

I was intrigued by the GP analogy because a GP actually prescribes a solution to help with physiological issues. Many times mental health can also benefit from professional help. For such a topic, it’s helpful to also include those resources/ options.

You didnt specify how exactly one manifests a new job, though? Should I stop updating my cv, sending out applications and instead just sit here thinking positive thoughts and making a moodboard?🤡

You clearly also missed Niomi’s point about spreading kindness. Maybe you should seek professional help. 🙏🏼

@@Sbs349 that is pretty rude, seen as the podcast mentioned kindness, why attack someone with a legitimate question?

@@Sbs349 clown emoji aside, i stand by what i said. i think it's pretty irresponsible to give out this 'advice' with nothing of substance to back it. it's not grounded in reality.

"in order to heal, you have to want to be healed", I cannot stress enough how important that is! thank you for emphasising that. This episode was a good one. I thoroughly enjoyed it x

What you call maxitation is actually a kind of meditation! Or at least quite similar to one I have learnt about. Instead of trying to find an empty still bright place in your head you let out all your thoughts, both positive and negative, just everything that comes to your mind. Most of the time we are controlling our minds both positively and negatively. You’ll find that freeing your mind to actually think whatever it wants, to let it go wherever it goes is actually quite hard. But anyway, I think both with this kind of meditation and what you talk about in the video I feel like it’s important to specify that trauma or mental illness will not just float away. Most of the time if someone is deeply affected by negative thoughts is not because they haven’t found manifestation or the right mindset, it’s probably because they have had a pretty shitty life and they need help. I only say this because you mentioned anxiety and depression. This could be very much helpful for the day today more silly things, like you said, someone shouting in the street or something. I am open to hearing more thoughts on this! Also I would be really interested in the episode about mind-body medicine!

I write three positive things from my day every evening in a journal. Even if it is as simple as saw a beautiful Robin in the garden.

Loved this, I relate to so much of what you’ve touched on. I’ve personally been feeling as though we all maybe swung the pendulum too far to the side of skepticism and pessimism (but calling it being a “realist”) so much so that we’re loosing touch with the positive attributes to daily life. Keep these podcasts up babe, your observations have validity, and you’ll reach the right crowd who is ready to hear it 🤍✨

This made me think of ‘focusing’ by Gendlin, I’m sure you’d find it interesting. It’s a way to discover more about ourselves by connecting our body sensations with our mind. Let me know if you try it.

Another thought, I wonder how it would feel to give those ‘patients’ a hug or offer compassion, offer a healing response. Shouting is a sign of needing connection when feeling unheard.

Hi Niomi I was wondering if you had any reccomendations for the best non slip yoga mat for hot yoga. I just bought one and this evening I could keep my feet from slipping on it. Even though it was meant to be non slip. ❤

When you’ve been talking about experiencing the lows to appreciate the highs - that’s what Keats termed “negative capability” and explored through his letters and poetry 💖

Poor gut health and/or hormones make it harder to see the negetive thought cloud go away. Eating healthily and planning around your period can be helpful.

I often feel undeserving of many great things that come in my way and I hate it. I keep telling myself that I am worthy, that I deserve much more than I’m getting but I never really believed it. This episode really changed my perspective and made me feel something I haven’t felt in a long time. Hope. Thank you Niomi🥹🤍
