Hey 90s kids, this bit of conversation you cannot miss!
Nostalgia max pro!
It's hard not to think about the glorious days of our childhood: no internet, no smartphones, the beautiful era of human-to-human interactions, and limited connectivity (landlines, and that too at select houses).
My memories of childhood are precious as I grew up watching several mythological TV series like Ramayana and Mahabharata, and classic fantasies like Alif Laila. I have rewatched them hundreds of times.
The cable boom during my childhood did get us glued to the TV, but it did not deter us much from playing outside on the streets. I grew up reading books from Geeta Press, like Veer Balak and more. The Big Fun (cricket cards) and WWF Trump Cards were also a big part of my childhood. I still remember many stats from those cards.
Shaktiman was such a big deal for us. Pandit Gangadhar Vidyadhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastri, Tamraj Kilvish, Joke Joka, Geeta Viswas. I am a walking 90s encyclopedia. I cannot forget the amazing Captain Vyom featuring Milind Soman, who has refused to age. LOL.
See, the point is, in 2024 when we have become parents ourselves and are struggling to reduce screen time, living in ultra-nuclear families, I wonder how we help our children learn the moral values that we more or less took for granted a couple of decades ago.
Gaurav of Sutradhar helps shed light on this situation, which I am sure is faced by many parents. Do watch it. The full episode will come later this week. Enjoy.
P.S. My favorite cartoon series from childhood are Justice League, Batman Beyond, Mask, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and, haha yes, Powerpuff Girls. If you want to chat with me about those good old days, ping me.
P.S. 2: Also, subscribe to my YT channel. Cheers.
