Prof. Mohan Prasad Khanal is a Harvard published historian and a Retired Professor with the ability to read all of our ancient lipis and manuscripts who has written 30+ books and 300+ research papers. Having been visited all around Nepal in search for stone writings and manuscripts, Prof. Khanal has acquired quite a large value of knowledge regarding our history. His study and expertise in Archeology has also helped him excavate and document ancient proof of Nepal being one of the oldest civilizations in the world.
For reference American history dates back to 300-400 years but we have documentation back from 3000 years ago.
This podcast was truly an eye-opener for me and was very emotional on deeper levels.

I agree with u... Sushant ask him 1. Which is the oldest temple of Nepal? 2. Did Ashoka really visited Kathmandu? 3. Did Lumbini belonged to Ashoka that time as inscription on pillar says about discount on tax? 4. Did Prithvi Narayan shah really cut nose of kirtipur people? I heard he only cut the nose of soldiers who tried to betray him aftet winning kirtipur? 5. From 880 ad to 13 century, who ruled Kathmandu..some says malla came only in 12-13 century ad? 6. How worshipping taleju came into practice? Some says nanya dev of simrongad never came to Kathmandu? 7. Who killed gagan singh? 8. Explain difference between 5 mediational buddha, Gautam buddha, and Bodhisattva? 9. When will maitroya buddha born? 10. Exact date of construction of pasupatinath, boudhnath and swyambhunath and who built them? 11. Why Buddhism was banned during rana regime? 12. What is the exact reason for erotic carving of struts of temple? 13. About birupakshya and destruction if it came out ?

@Explore and photograph about lumbini, it exists under Nepal, this is because daughter of asoka, (charumati) and asoka came Kathmandu first and then only asoka gonn to lumbini, My guess is, Ashoka take permission from king and then only he gonne, so, but, all these are my assumption, I am not saying is exact, but, it might be or might not be. but one thing I am pretty sure that asoka came Nepal.

My thoughts on The origins of Nepal Sambat that has been told throughout my family tree is: The common people of Kathmandu Valley were in a lot of debt during the time of Sankhadhar Sakhwha, a benevolent merchant who decided to free people of all their debts and give them a fresh start to life. The people then rejoiced and decided to celebrate this day as the beginning of a new era, marking the start of Nepal Sambat. This story has been passed on throughout our history and we can't really ignore this fact simply because it's not well transcribed in historic texts. History throughout several parts of the world haven't always been transcribed, rather passed on from past generations in the form of stories. His and Her story that's where the word history comes from right? Nonetheless an amazing and informative podcast. Loved listening to it and learning more about our history. Great Job 👍🏼

In basic geological understanding, there are erosional features from air, water and glaciers. The landforms created by those are unique and visible. In your arguement about Kathmandu valley creation, you specifically said it was due to limestone erosion. Please consult with some geologists about it to make conclusion. In my personal observation i couldn't see any erosional features on top of chovar cutting but lower bed had water erosional feature. So, it is my request to you sir to collaborate with experts of the field, their say will create some interesting debate.

History is 90% perception and 10% facts. People can interpret it in many ways. Aba 2000, 5000 barsa agadi exactly k vako thiyo tyo kasailai thaha chaina. Guessing game ho dherai. Sila lekh ma lekheko sapei kura satya ho kalpanik hoina vanera kasai le guarantee garnu sakdaina. Vancha ni "History is written by the victors". For example we read all good things about Alexander the Great, we have books on his bravery and his courage. But his stories were written and passed down by his own Greek writers and philosophers. Wheras Gengis Khan is portrayed as an evil and barbaric emperor because his stories were written and passed down by Chinese historians who were the enemies of the Mongol. Nobody will write good thing about their enemies. The fact is they both did the same thing, expand their empire, killed hundreds of thousands of innocent people, burned villages and cities. I am pretty sure Alexander did not win so many battles with hugs and kisses. he certainly killed thousands of people, yet he is called "Great". True history can never be uncovered unless someone builds time machine and goes back in time to see it for himself. Aba kasaile vancha Mahabharata ra prachin hindu grantha haru ma Kirat haru lai dherei tham ma ulekh gariyeko cha. Yo video ma professor Mohan sir vannu huncha Kirat haru ko kahi katai mention chaina. Aba kasko kura patyauney! Sapei speculation ta ho last ma.

It's not exactly true that history is 10% facts. We do cross-check the information from various sources for example the history of Buddhism in sub continent we have various sources from different writers from different part of the world, we examine the source and cross examine the information . The reason why we found lumbani, Ashoka pillar, various buddist universities which was lost to time was because of this information.
