Simple high protein lentil Kichadi Have with a bowl of curd - total protein 23.2 grams Ingredients Horsegram 10g Moong dal 10g Lentil dal 10g Moth beans 10g Rajma 10g Fenugreek seeds 5g Samai 15g Moringa Leaves 15g Onion 25g Tomato 25g Cauliflower 25g Capsicum 25g Carrot 25g Ghee 10g Garden cress seeds (Halim) 10g Curd 150g Method: 1. Soak the dals for 12-18 hours 2. Take a vessel, add 1 tsp ghee, add spices like jeera, ginger-garlic paste, add onions and sautee 3. Once onions turn golden brown, add chopped tomato, sautee for a minute, add capsicum , cauliflower, carrot. 4. Now add washed chopped moringa leaves, the add dals and samai (pre-soaked for 3 hours). Add water and pressure cook for 6-7 whistles. 5. Add a tsp of ghee to the khichidi and relish with a bowl of seedy curd which is curd with presoaked garden cress seeds in it! Notes: 1. Soak the dals for 12-18 hours , this process makes them more digestible, speeds up cooking times and prevents bloating and flatulence 2. Wash the leafy vegetables in salt water, followed by plain water twice to clear the impurities if any. (Can add peanuts, if one is not allergic to it)

Hi, is this recipe good for Cancer patients n survivors? I'm always listening to your videos am changing my diet to suit fighting cancer. I was told to avoid white rice and eat only brown. If I mixed lentils with white rice will it be good for me as a cancer patient?

I am an Indian. I don't take English medicines. Once i had dysentery, I never took any medicine, for it, but my diet for dysentery is RICE mixed with Buttermilk and chutney made with coriander leaves and Green tea with honey. Thats it dysentery gone in 3 days. I had fever one day, i don't know about any virus or bacteria, my diet for fever is porridge made with rice, salt, milk, pepper 4 times per day and for every 2 hours i had Sweetbasil Tea. Thats it fever gone within 3 days. I sleep at right side in daytime and I sleep at left side during night time to maintain my body temperature. While sleeping I always keep my head south side, facing east direction, and legs at north direction. I do not drink COCA COLA or PEPSI. I do not eat meat. Only hardworking people eat meat. Because meat takes too much time to digest. Everyday i drink coriander seed tea mixed with jaggery, ginger, cardamom, cheese. I only eat bananas which has some greyish colouring in the skin. In India, there is an old saying, feast and medicine is only for 3 days, if we take medicine for more than 3 days continuously, then we are treating for the wrong disease.

??Lou, would you please tell us what proportions you use for the lentils, & rice. I use brown rice. ??Also, are nuts and a soaked chia seed ok as the starter (flow), My breakfast ??How long before a meal do you drink the apple cider vinegar? I start with a few sips of black tea ( the best part of the day's start) i do eat some banana slices with that, as I'm pretty famished for food at breakfast- (5"5' and ~ 92 lbs) I eat lentils and a whole grain ( I vary grains for gut diversity), for breakfast every day.

Kichri Is Carbs! mixing beans and rice completes vitamins and amino acids making rice and beans complete meal. Other populations which consume rice and beans are also highly diabetic( Mexicans Brazilians etc). We are diabetic not just because of our nutrition or lifestyle but because we are Genetically predisposed to diabetes and heart disease. Also our meals are carb heavy. My great great grandfather was a renowned Ayurvedic practitioner. He walked 6 miles a day. He was diabetic. My grandfather barely walked. He ate the same kinda food his father ate. He wasn’t diabetic. My father grew up with 4 siblings all of the ate same foods. My dad was diabetic by the time he was 30. His 1 sibling is diabetic now at 80. That sibling lives in the US and has been eating healthy north Indian food . My dad was forced to eat rice coz he had to cook for himself at 24 and didn’t know how to cook. It’s bullshit that food doesn’t cause certain diseases it doesGenes play a major role in how sick a person gets along with environmental factors. About 30% is in our control and that’s diet and exercise.I would like to see you go head to head with some famous cardiologists who have also studied nutrition in depth.
