I was there!! What an amazing night. Watching the Spurs playing back in the Dome brought back so many memories…Nostalgic AF! The game didn’t even matter it was just the atmosphere and the energy that night. Why against Golden State on this special day, knowing very well the Spurs will be convincingly defeated? Perhaps they will set it up opposite the Celtics should they've won the 2022 Finals. And the Spurs' connection/relation to the Green Leprechaun is rich too. The Spurs are perhaps known for their class and grace in defeat. They are never defined by past heartbreaking losses. Chris Paul once said he hates winning against this team. And it's the reversal of status quo. The Spurs are in youth movement, in process called "growing pains", and to see first hand for the umpteenth time the current standard of "winning it all" in today's Warriors. Having Steve Kerr as part of the festivities is fitting. He helped and contributed to the Spurs' "turnaround" into the franchise has become today since winning the 1st Title in 1999. And everyone appreciate his heroics in G6 2003 WCF, which seems his favorite career highlight-- more than the clutch shot off Michael Jordan's pass in 1997 Finals. Next reasons are the connection and ironies between the two teams, such as: - Coach Pop worked in Golden State before returning to San Antonio for good in 1994. - If not for Pop's sage advice, Kerr would have chose Phil Jackson's offer to coach NY. - Warriors' anticipation for Spurs getting Jordan Poole, which they selected one slot ahead of SA. Thankfully and as expected from Spurs, they have a Plan B in Keldon Johnson. - If not for the Warriors' stunning upset over the Mavericks in 2007, the Spurs would have not clinched the 4th Title. Unless not shown in this feature, it's kinda disheartening Tim Duncan is not around being the all-time greatest Spur.
