I can't get enough of these videos. It is beyond satisfying getting the feeling of meeting these legend pioneers and realizing why we felt so connected to their mixes we heard on tapes back in 95/96 and onwards! Much love all, channel creators, all pioneers interviewed, the newer ones and followers all alike. Much loved interview with another loving part of our culture. Thank you Tom and all that enjoy this channel, plus most of all, the legends that come and share their part, story, view and all around feel for the vibes for us to learn ❤

Back in the early 2000s Kenny played at an event on my birthday. We spoke before his set and I mentioned it was my birthday and how I loved the older Jungle sounds. During his set, he dropped loads on Jungle anthems and gave me the nod every time I was calling for the rewind - one of my fondest birthday memories. A lot of love and respect for Mr Kenny Ken 🙏🏾

What an interview. I'd love to have a pint with Kenny Ken, I could listen to him all night. I seen quite a bit of him at Dreamscapes and Helter Skelters. He never played a bad set. He wasn't my favourite as that was DJ Fabio I really like Fabio's style of Drum and Bass, but Kenny has bags of personality and character.

Great interview, great work from the ROAR team once again. World Dance 94 was when the Rave scene started for me, when music was just Hardcore in my eyes. Kenny Ken banged out a set I think July 94 at WD, that was just pure 🔥🔥 go find it!! I loved a banging beat but with Piano loop and vocal. 94 was when Kenny Ken would be followed by Dougal, followed by Micky Finn then Slipmatt. The music styles didn’t matter it all sounded the absolute nuts to rave to. Shame it become split, but 94 was the year for me. Before the split My Fav DJs from the 90’s, were Food Junky, Kenny Ken, Dougal, Ellis Dee, Slipmatt, Micky Finn. 2 down 4 to go ROAR team 👍👊

Seriously enjoyed the Kenny interview, he reminds me of a fella I know. I heard about the politics and clickyness of the scene from a then aspiring DnB DJ/producer that felt their wrath and detered him from the scene, he then went to make dubstep but he made comedy videos on his channel that were my type of humour. One of them Kenny knows as a skit radio advert for a promotion called 'raveageddon' (done by high rankin)where kenny ken is b2b with kenny ken. 😁😁 I Know he see it and made a reaction video where he's cracking up about it and I heard he was actually going to try and make it happen.

This 2nd part was good to I disagree with Ken saying Jungle & Drum & Bass are the same, as I belief Jungle is more ragga & reggae & Drum & Bass is more beats. Also was funny with Kens cat sat on top of his chair, even when swinging on it 😂
@plantbaseddiet33972 жыл бұрын
@Graham Seddon if you Overstrand beats you will know D n B is Jungle and if you go back to original reggae, ragga ,dub step all jungle dnb derives from this ,kenny is coming from the 60's music scene so he knows as do we all 🙂

I disagree with Kenny here, I prefer the artists are just as involved in the raves as the ravers are otherwise they're just money grabbers, event to event. I remember dancing and chatting with the likes of MCMC, Charlie B, Storm, Mann Parris, Nicky B, Fearless, Riddla, Slipmatt, Sy all brilliant guys really human down to Earth. But I've also tried to talking to some artists and their head is so far up their own arses I've gone right off them and given their tape sets or CDs away to my mates.

ROAR the 90's rave channel brought to you by people who started raving in the year 2000... LOL. Although technically speaking 2000 was the last year of the 10th decade so part of the 90's.

What’s your point? Can people only make shows about things they experienced? Because pretty sure we’ve seen documentaries about the Romans and they for sure didn’t have TVs......
@z00h3 жыл бұрын
@@ROARUKPods "Can people only make shows about things they experienced" Of course not, but there's a huge gap between the value of hearsay vs the value of personal experience. As for the Romans, I mean it'd be difficult to find anyone on youtube who lived through them times so it's a pretty strange example that.
@zak34283 жыл бұрын
I’m glad it’s doing the 90’s rave. I was too young to go out until 2000 myself but massively into hardcore and mixing from 96 buying tapes and vinyls. This podcast is good for looking back into a world of artists that were my heroes in the day. It was a shame never getting to be a part of the scene at the time as far as going out.
