You mean ‘A Caribbean Mystery’ as that one you said was your favorite! I like Geraldine McEwan the best of the TV actors, and recently saw ‘Mirror Crack’d’ with Angela Lansbury - I thought she was great!

I believe that Miss Marple’s lost love, the soldier who was killed in the war, was actually a married man. When they part at the train station, he makes it clear that when he comes back, he intends to divorce his wife in order to marry her. She clearly had very painfully conflicted emotions about this. Because of these circumstances, she was left completely alone in her grief and no one ever knew she had this love in her early life. I don’t know if this was in her books or only written for the T.V. adaptation. p.s. “The Mirror Cracked” was based on the real life tragedy of actress Gene Tierney.
