Hi Ian, I notice Jaimie 66 commented that your bike should not be overheating. I am inclined to agree. Make sure your fan is working properly. Better to sort it now than have trouble in Africa. It has been pleasant weather the last few days, but not hot. It is not uncommon to have temperatures way into the mid 40s centigrade here on the Costa in the summer. Travelling south into Africa you may well come across high temperatures and slow moving traffic.

I jiggled a few wires today and it seems okay now. I was in Marbella this afternoon and the temp on the dash was 26 and I still had three bars on the engine temp. Phew.... close call.

I used to live near Estepona so seeking these roads and that campsite was a lovely reminder of happier times for me. I don’t like Gibraltar except for the museums. I totally understand the Spanish claim to it. Absurd really. The “real” reasons we claim to own it it a very far reaching. The town as you go in La Linea is very rough and I would not park my bike there. Il love the scooter traffic in Gibraltar like a mini Grand Prix in every street. I am so envious of your trip. Glad foot healing as I have had many ankle incidents and surgery. Never been to africa other than day trip. Astonishing views towards the other continent though. I used to love to go to Algeciras next door. And watch the incessant maritime traffic. Or sit in a bar in La Linea and watch the raf planes and civvy planes landing in severe winds. Not for feint hearted. I was diverted to Malaga many times after enduring a fair ground ride landing attempts. Looking fwd to further trip. Love seeing all old cars in that area

Whats happening? Planning a new trip? Would recommend Norway, its Scotland extended version and much more, without all the traffic jams. It’s free to camp within 200 meters from peoples homes:-) Take contact if you need som more information. What I don’t know, is not worth knowing:-)

Bravo Zulu, just found your vids, really entertaining. I'm ex RN (77-99) and love your attitude. If you get the time it would be great to see the gear you took with you, and then at the end, tell us what was good/bad, what you would, in retrospect have done differently. Fair winds and following seas matey.

I ended up staying there for three months and my CB500X never missed a beat. Thank you and looking forward to the next instalment 😁

Mate I have no hair 👨‍🦲 😂I have a gripper mounted that you just take on and off which is really good and easy and you don’t have ạ permanent one stuck to your helmet. I had the same problem with my GoPro 10 the battery don’t last long. I think you can get a charger you can but in your pocket and have it plugged in while your ride the ones you can get for your phone can nọt remember what they are called. Ride safe an enjoy your tea and Jaffa cakes 👍👍

Great stuff, Ian. I love what you're doing. I discovered your channel only this afternoon, and you've filled me with a renewed desire to get another bike and go wild camping again. I'm heading for 74 and rode solo for years on many different bikes. My Great Escape times! I sold my last bike, a CB500X, last year as I was beginning to 'lose my nerve', particularly after a blind idiot of a car driver reversed into me at traffic lights. The bike was badly hurt, but I was fine after I'd given him a good blasting of some very foul language. He did, however, eventually pay for all the bike repairs. As good as new. Then I sold it.. Anyway, within 4 months I was regretting having sold the Honda. And I'm now seriously considering the NC750X for next Spring. Life is too short, and getting shorter, to be bikeless, don't you think. Take care, and best of riding. And keep posting your very encouraging videos. Thanks, Kev

i am the same age as you, i still work as i keep passing the medical so keep turning up i honestly believe you can talk yourself into down sizing if not giving up altogether my advice is dont think about age at all, we are ALL going to be a long time dead so get the bike and tour on it do everything you are capable of i ride a triumph 1200 tiger and have no intention of selling it any time soon, i also have a cbr600rr i use for track days and am never at the back. get the bike you want good luck with it, enjoy your camping.

As I had broke my ankle a few weeks before, walking was a struggle and I only called into Gib to get some supplies before heading to Morocco. There’s no way I could have gone walkabout. It was bad enough limping around Morrisons. Also, I’m not here to do touristy stuff. It’s about the road journey.

It would've been best if you got your ankle checked out in Gib mate to make sure you're ok before you head to Morroco. I wouldn't want to go there with a fracture or rupture and end up in the arse end of nowhere in pain. There is no charge if you're from the UK and they have an excellent hospital. It's the NHS after all but without the massive queues (and better weather). I would urge you to go back tomorrow and get checked out.

I would never have a GS' I'm afraid. I just don't like them. Too many gizmos and electronics. Also, they're expensive when they go wrong. My next bike will be smaller and lighter. Maybe a T7 or a Honda 500.
