Hi Marianne, Thanks for your lovely comments. I'm so happy that you are able to 'join' me on my walk. It sounds like you also have had many enjoyable walking experiences. I plan to do the walking circuit around Mont Blanc this year in August and I'm really looking forward to it! Enjoy the journey! Cheers, Gav.

Hi Gav, Thank you for the wonderful video of the Camino Via de la Plata. 😊 I appreciate the effort you put into filming and walking it. 🥾 Your discussion of the trail's history, personal insights on travel, practical tips about backpacks, routes, food, places to stay, and the gear you use were particularly helpful. 🎒🗺️🏨🌧️ The gritty filming style, with its mix of photos and self-filming, added to the authenticity. 📸 It was refreshing to see a video without drone shots or donation requests. 🚫💸 I’m planning to complete the Camino from Malaga and then join your route. 🛤️ my partner recently passed away from cancer, and I want to walk it in her honor as we both loved Spain and of course I want time to make sense of it all 🇪🇸. Videos like yours are invaluable as they provide a sense of what to expect. Great stuff, mate. 👍 Hopefully, you'll do other Caminos in the future. Good luck, and I’ve subscribed. 📬✨

Really enjoying your trip. A good way to help remember our own back in 2019. Like you, most people walk to Carñaveral but there’s a great albergué at Embalse de Alcantara just after you crossed the second large bridge. It’s like a futuristic concrete bunker on the edge of the reservoir. Worth a stay. And yes, that leg is a real slog! We stopped in Caceras, so about 11km further back than Casar de Caceras so stopping at the bunker made more sense. Love your commentary! We tended to start around 5:30 to beat the heat so the first 5-10km were usually in the dark. Barking dogs always sound worse in the dark because you never know if they’re loose!!

Hi Ruby Tuesday, Many thanks - the albergue at Embalse de Alcantara is a handy tip. Nice to hear that the vids are helping you remember your own trip. Cheers, Gav.

Really enjoying your vlogs - very useful and informative since I plan to cycle the route mid May. Probably won’t follow all the footpaths since I don’t want to encroach on walkers but you’ve made me consider carrying extra water/ food for those I do pass …carefully!

Hi Germaine, I'm happy you're finding the vlogs enjoyable. I wish you a most enjoyable ride in May. Cheers, Gav.

Hi Gav, Thanks for getting back to me... Thinking of doing V.D.LP ,staring around the 17th September. Just was wondering if it was still hot in October, when you started reaching Salamanca,Galicia..

Hi Paul, I was very lucky with the weather. It did start getting cooler as I pushed further north, north/west, but by no means freezing. I had lovely, warm weather in Salamanca, but the rain did set in as I approached Santiago. I then experienced fairly harsh storms and rain on my walk to the coast - but it was reported at that time to be a rare, intense climatic condition. Even then it wasn't freezing - perhaps around 18-19 celcius. Good luck with your walk. Cheers, Gav.

if it went to the hikers wishes, there would never be rain on the camino paths and you would not be able to walk through green fields. but you do know that too. buen camino

Great coverage again. Seems you - so far - have had a few encounters with dogs and cows. Must say that I am not too much looking forward to that... I am not too scared of the average gold fish, but anything larger and louder than that is not something that I fancy too much. Anyway, let's see how that goes :)

Hi GJ, I might have been a tad over-dramatic when it came to the dogs and cows. Apart from one farm, the dogs were behind fences, so no issues there (for me anyway!). The cows are very timid and will keep their distance. They are just so big and when you're on your own in the middle of nowhere amongst a herd of cows, they can be a little confronting. Cheers, Gav.

Gav, talking about this walk your doing and the weight of the pack, do you think a trolley to carry the pack might work. Chris from Sydney, Australia.
@greenenergygav8053 Жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, It would be a personal choice, but for me, I think it makes things more complex. If you're able to carry a pack, then I recommend you carry a pack and keep it as light as possible. Just thinking back, there were a few very steep inclines on the walk and a trolley might have been problematic. Cheers, Gav.
