We had a company like there around here. I had 2 trucks and a clean up, 30min spacing. 2nd truck came 40min late, clean up came 2 hours late. So I ended with a cold joint, I had to pay all this extra hours for my finishers, and pumper. The problem is I had to explain to my clients why we had a cold joint, and had to clarify to the engineer why we had a cold joint. When we finished and they called me for payment, I just told them to eat a dick. Never paid them. Even then I had to eat the cost since clients were not thrilled about the pour even though it was getting cover...I mean completely understood. It's suppose to be new and it looked like shit. I would've been even more pissed if the Engineer was going to be a dick and said the concrete was structural and they didn't want a cold joint there, would've had to eat the demo cost. The company probably overextended themselves. Cause our clean up was the same driver as truck 2. So literally the reason why it was 2 hours late was my 2nd truck had to go back to the plant, drive through traffic, get loaded, then get stuck in traffic again to come back. This wasn't even a last minute, I need a small clean up truck type of deal. It was ordered as 2+, so they knew I needed 3 trucks that day.

Talk about a violation of a contract! It is discussing how some companies just don't care. The owners have no respect for the business if they allow this type of customer service. If there is a problem beyond there control, then they have the obligation to tell the customers. Congratulations on getting the pour done! I never saw a safe room done. Thank you for the video.🤗

A cautionary tale about working with inexperienced or incompetent material suppliers. When they supplied crushed stone instead of pea gravel and more water instead of superplastisizer, they violated their agreement of the installers. Luckily, it seems like the installers were competent enough to work around the concrete supplier’s foolishness. Hopefully, they didn’t screw the mix design up too much.

Somehow when the bill from Chisholm came in, I'd lose that sucker for a long time. In your defense, since you were using a 6 inch ICF, it's easy to prove that you didn't receive 10 yards of concrete, didn't get the pea gravel and it wasn't delivered anywhere close to the contracted time. Find out who the owner or big wheels of Chisholm Concrete is, and make sure to send them a link to the video. They might have enough complaints against Kevin, to allow him the to look for employment elsewhere.
@fredericrike59744 жыл бұрын
Sadly, their reputation is likely already in the weeds and they don't care- the business sells water, sand and a few chemicals at a fraction of what they actually cost- companies go out of business often enough to pick up late model, low hour cement trucks at less than half new cost. Just send Chisum a bill for all the "wait time" labor they added to the job- they won't pay it, but send it by way of a billboard on the road to their plant. A little expensive for a one load job, but Ken Whitney (above) got it more than half right! Erik, for you it sounds like an investment opportunity- a company that could bid and do high level concrete work, concrete included!

we have that short load problem all time also. i realize that you usually need 2 extra for the pump to prime, but you should have had that covered.....it could be that a small portion of it could be explained by the limestone rock, different density rock has different weights, and they may not catch it at at the plant with their feeder calibrations, and from what difficulties you had, that could be a big part, but its easy to sit here and armchair preach, and you did make the best of a bad situation. my hats off to you sir!! stay safe......

I was a GC for 30 years and about 11 years ago we did a test to see if there were shortages on concrete trucks and here were the results - we formed up two 3'x3'x15' forms with no type of reinforcement inside and ordered 10 yards of 4500# concrete. When all was poured out, one box was full and the other one was about 9-10" from the top. So we figured they came up about a yard or so short of their order. When we brought the company rep. out and checked things out his answer was (Get This) That there is a nationwide shortage allowance that the concrete companies get. Well after a few short min. of really nasty words and threats they only charged us for 7 yards. I called it 3 yards of hush concrete.

Thanks for getting Jason to include the concrete mix design used in this placement application. The HRWR super plasticizer 3000-4000psi along with the pea gravel aggregate will ensure this placement goes smoothly without compromising the integrity of the project. Thanks for "Non Impressive" review of Larry Chisum construction/concrete services, which if under any type of contract, would result in hefty back-charge for delay cost regardless of the size of the project. Big Tom Callahan said it best: "Of Course, I can get a hell of a good look at a T-Bone steak by sticking my head up a bull's ass, but I'd rather take the butchers word for it." **I'd be willing to bet Chisum's scales, gauges and hoppers at his plant aren't calibrated or certified if the yield shortages are that great.**

Being that they poured the entire wall which calculated to approximately 6.5 yards (without door) and managed to get enough off the truck to finish the job (9x9 cap @ 4" is 1 yard) I would speculate that the supplier had a bigger job going that had demanded the entire fleet and had ordered a load (8yards) to much. That would explain the hot load of the wrong mix more so than the scales being off by some 20%.
