Wonderful info on understanding these schematics!! Thanks for the time you took putting this together! The example you used for the grounding in Part 2 light switch that goes to Part 4 instrument cluster is exactly what I needed to see!! Every time I turn on the headlights, the fuel gauge pegs.. this points to it being a ground issue. Thanks again!

Hello and thank you for the info. Very informative. I'm working on a '83 928 and having trouble figuring out the wiring for the flasher and turn signal lights and switch. When I activate the turn signal, the light on the dash lights up but does not flash. On the relay panel, pin 49a has power until I activate the turn signal, then power goes away. Pin 49 does not have power in the key on or off position.

Great video series! Thanks for going through detail of devices, connectors, wire colors... everything. How did you get such high resolution large printouts of the Current Flow diagrams? Are high resolution pdf files available? I just have paper scans out of workshop manual, can't zoom in and read the wire details. Thanks, Rick

Hi Rick. My super camera man, mechanic, IT guy and good friend made these for us. They are taken from the pdf workshop manual and spliced together and made into files that can be printed on large format printers. Ours were done at Walgreens. We are setting up Patrion for our channel, when that is finally up and running, all of these files and more will be available for anyone at that membership level. I'm not sure what level that will be yet. It will be soon though. Nic does a lot behind the scenes, and is very creative.

Very helpful videos! Can you explain how the radio relay works in a 924 S?

I'll go back and do a clip on that next week

I looked it over and see that it a bit more complicated than the early 944. It spans to more sheets. I'll study it further and we'll do a spot on it.

I have a 951 that had an alternator replace 10,000 miles back. Now its failing. The shop told me that's it's a Bosch remanufacture, and it needs to be looked at. I did have a timing belt replace a few years back and I wonder if a wire got jiggled. What should I look for to keep the alternator charging?

Does the battery indicator light come on with the ignition on? If so, does it go off when the engine is running? If it does not come on with the ignition on, then it could be bulb is out, or the blue wire (D+) is not connected to the Alternator. If you remove the blue wire from the back of the Alternator and ground it, the battery light should come on with the ignition on.

If the D+ circuit is open, the Alternator should start charging on its own around 3000 RPM.
