This 4th episode is dedicated to Tierra del Fuego. It's the End of the World (fin Del monde, finistere, …). It is the southernmost part of the American continent, 1000 km from the Antarctic Peninsula. The Tierra del Fuego archipelago has an area of (73,753 km2), which is slightly larger than metropolitan France.
First, Ushuaïa is a mythical city. This is where the greatest exploration for Antarctica started. Commander Cousteau had his quarters there, later, a television channel took over this name for incredible images of this region of the world, I had to go there, I was not disappointed.
Cape Horn, landing there was a dream. Getting tossed about by the Roaring 40s, being swept away by gusts of wind, being at the end of the world, that's how I feel.
I had the chance to criss-cross the maze of fjords by boat, to disembark from island to island, to cross the Pacific and then to go up through the Strait of Magellan!
Finally, the Penguins “are too cute”. I did not expect them to be so expressive, proud in their confident gait, concerned about their grooming, pressing in their amorous foreplay.
Ahead !
