Have to admit-never had a comment like that before! Hilarious! I suggest you use a tissue when looking at emeralds......😹

I got my mom an emerald in St Martin and my sister when I was in Europe , moms is lighter and my sisters so dark , sadly we found out moms was a fake last year , my question is , what is with the wave of Petrified wood with jewelry and stones , I just purchased a collawood fossil piece of wood with chrysocolla in it a very small piece but beautiful greenish blue color in it , came from Turkey 🇹🇷, thanks again for A awesome lesson again Paul !!!

That is a great question. I will reserve that question for the lesson I'm gonna do with my buddy Tom Elliot. He is totally into the petrified wood and the dinosaur bone craze, as well as anything you want to ask him. He is brilliant

Hi Paul! Can you do a video on grandiderite?

Thanks, Paul, for answering my question. I have always wanted an emerald bu I think I will just get a chrome diopside instead.

I have some chrome diopside myself and I love the look that they give you. I also love the color of them they are everything that a emerald wants to be

Hello Paul 👋what is true December birth stone ? My birth month is December. Thanks !
@pauldeasygemstones4 жыл бұрын
HI Dakota. This is your lucky day. You don't have just one birthstone for December. You actually have 4: Blue Zircon, Turquoise, Blue Topaz, and Tanzanite. Blue Zircon was the original birthstone, Turquoise was the alternate. Then blue topaz was added because blue zircon wasn't as available as blue topaz, and blue topaz was more affordable. Finally, the AGTA (American Gem Trade Association) added Tanzanite to their gemstone list for December.

Is there any way . that you can tell if your if your color change alexandrite is a lab made or a simulated Stone that is not a alexandrite
@pauldeasygemstones4 жыл бұрын
As for simulated stones, yes it is easy to figure out with a number of tests. For example, A color change fluorite or garnet wouldn't have the same crystal structure, hardness, specific gravity, etc. With a lab created, it is much more difficult to tell. Remember, a synthetic (lab grown) gem has the same physical, chemical, and optical properties as their natural counterparts. I will be having a lesson with my friend Tom Elliott. I will see if he as any tricks up his sleeve for the alexandrite

with emeralds having chrome ingredient - would chrome diopside be a relative to an emerald? Thank you!!!
@pauldeasygemstones4 жыл бұрын
Great question, Jane. Aside from their striking resemblance, they don't come from the same family tree. Different chemical composition, hardness, refractive index, specific gravity. Basically, they have the trace element of chrome that produces their color in common. Nevertheless, chromium is still the better value!
