Episode 429: Before we say goodbye to 2023 - Shenk’s and Bombergers!

I’ve found more Shenk’s and Bombergers for between $110-125 this year than I have the last five years combined. I Actually bought some in three different states. The Shenk’s is my go to low proofer right now. Absolutely loving it. Both are good but, maybe because my expectations were lower with the lower proof, I was pleasantly surprised about the Shenk’s and still haven’t been disappointed any time I’ve gone to it

I am the opposite on this two. To me Shenk’s blew the 💣 🍔 away. Amazing That a 91 proof whiskey can have so much flavor!

I found the Shenks and Bombergers around March this year. I didn’t care.for last year’s Shenks but the Bombergers was pretty good. I had no intention of picking up eitherk this year but. The woman at the liquor store was so excited that she had something good to show me, I couldn’t refuse. I then sent the Bombergers to Bourbon Bill as I knew he would like it more I would. Everybody was happy.😊

I was able to get both the 2023 releases of Bomberger’s & Shenk’s at MSRP. We drank them side by side over the holidays and everyone strongly preferred the Bomberger’s.

They are at every TW in my area for about 2 days each year. I get both every year. Production is fairly low.

I passed on the Shenks at$100. It was pretty good but I definitely liked the Bombergers more

I passed on a bombergers yesterday for 160! I should have probably picked it up buy I just picked up a Russell's private barrel, bardstown discovery 11, and an antique 107.

Been looking to get a bottle of Bombergers but can't find one. I guess it's a very limited release that comes out only a couple times a year and sells out fast. Gonna have to be on my toes for the next time it hits the local stores here.

Man, I had a chance for both at msrp, but passed. I have several, and didn’t see the need for more. I really enjoyed both, nut overall, I have enjoyed the Shenks more which is counter intuitive, but it is what it is. Cheers Judge and Happy New Years to you and your family

Nice review Judge. I was able to pick up Shenk’s 2022 and 2023, along with Bomberger’s 2023. I learned from Baker Drinks…mix the Bomberger’s and Shenk’s 50/50 and call it A Shenkberger, which is very good. 🥃

I'm sorry to say this, but I had the opportunity on both when they arrived at my local store on the same day. I passed on both at MSRP and still don't regret it. They just don't interest me.

I just think they are way overpriced, like other Michter's bottles. Not saying they don't taste good, just spending my money elsewhere.

shenks was too basic for the price. I feel Eagle Rare is very comparable to it as sweet as it was.
