Used a FLUKE 113 for about 10 years now in the HVAC trade. Was a little worried at first that the resistance only went up to 60k ohms. But it has never been a problem. The capacitor check is invaluable.

So it works good for capacitor checking? I am having troubles with mine.

Great video, I have had a 113 for years now, best meter I have ever owned, spot on fabulous. -- PawPaw

hey, can you measure a resistance more than 60kOhms? because based on the product spec on the manual the Absolute Maximum Resistance Measurement is up to 60k Ohm only. Could you please verify if this can measure more than that or up to a mega ohms resistance please. I am planning to buy one but I need to be certain about this thing. Thanks

It will be good to see the moment when you put the leads on the power supply and when the meter shows the real reading to know the time that takes to make one measurement.

I tried to measure a 1Kohm SMD resistor with Fluke 113. It doesn't measure it. Used a 10$ meter, it did measure it without issues. Not sure why. Other resistors, voltage, diodes, capacitors are being measured without a problem, it might be a production flaw, don't think it's fixable.

bought the 113 the copper battery clip broke where its drilled then soldered, (mine broke making it useless) tore it open splayed it to expose the break prefectly soldered it back in place tòok patience but worth the time, i use it a lot (9 volt battery) in back had trouble getting fluke to undermine, told my secretary they would send papers 6 mo later still waiting so i repaired it cost$$

What fluke is good for electronics testing?
@JohnMaxGriffin3 жыл бұрын
For electronics testing w/o data logging the 87-V is good, 17B+ is good and relatively inexpensive, and 116 is okay (uA but no mA). If you don't need uA or don't need current measuring at all, then you have a lot more options. If you need datalogging, then you want a 287. It mostly depends on your budget. You almost can't go wrong with an 87-V but it's an expensive meter and might be overkill depending on your requirements. I'd start out with a 17B+ and see if you need anything better than that.
@SnabbKassa3 жыл бұрын
You don't need an expensive meter like this for just electronics, where the voltage and current is so tiny.

Problem with the fluke 113, it triggers the 30mA earthfault safety switch we use on our 230v IT distribution net when i measure between live lead and earth. Maybe just a problem in norway and albania
@Cross0027 жыл бұрын
A normal 30mA RCD solves at about 24 / 27mA. This is completely normal. The Fluke 113 has a LoZ with a low input impedance of 3 kOhm. 230V / 3kOhm = 76,67mA
@maxmustermann14555 жыл бұрын
Who the fuck uses a RCD/GFI for IT? You don't want your servers to go down because of a small ground fault.

Fluke is guaranteed a fantastic brand, but I can't get my self to bye one, most of them costs the same as a entry level oscilloscope.

When measuring voltage, you have 4kOhm resistance. That is too less for the clamp.

Professionals use clamp meters for amps. It's safer than connecting to the circuit
@tech29X2 жыл бұрын
@@SnabbKassa "safer" and more convenient using a clamp on ammeter than connecting in series to the circuit using a traditional multimeter test leads. Connecting in series you need to make sure you don't exceed max current and max test duration time of about 30 seconds, than you have to disconnect and wait 5 minutes to cool off and hope you don't blow a fuse or accidentally mess up your meter while toggling other functions. For measuring current just a get a clamp on meter and be done with it. (as always, there are some exceptions).
