Idk if the anime just did it better but I remember Luffy saying when he transformed I have the power to do whatever I want now and I’m paraphrasing cuz I don’t remember but maybe that’s why he’s playing around because he’s just over confident. Luffy is always an underdog but they gear 5 he no longer is
