What do you guys think about radio communication being introduced to MotoGP?

i cant stand the idea, f1 would be better without it, the riders judgment is as important as skill, and to remove that would ruin everything, pitboards only. If the rider only has to be fast and follow instructions then its less of a race between riders. theres a saying 90% of motorcycle racing is between the ears, do we really want to remove that 90% from our sport?

I"m with Pedro Acosta on this one. Just give the riders some peace and quiet during the race.

As a fan and as a rider I hate the idea - for so many more reasons than makes sense to type here. People who aren’t subscribed aren’t going to know the difference anyway, so if they want to increase viewership there are other, more effective ways. With 12 turns in 90 seconds and 0.1 seconds between riders, there isn’t much time for chat anyway.

@@theant9821I completely agree, and it’s hard to understand how anyone who actually cares could think any different.

I agree with all the points made by others. I really dislike the idea. Funny story about Scott Russell's crew testing two-way radio communication. I think it was during the Daytona 200. His crew couldn't make sense of anything Russell said because he constantly talked (or shouted) while racing. Non-stop dialogue, but talking to whom? It was futile.

🇺🇸Thanks for the Kayla Yakov & Kristian Daniel mentions. Long-time American fan of your show hoping & praying for more US representation on the world stage. Cheering for both riders.

If they want to attract more people, 1) let people see a race or two without having to pay, 2) better/more camera angles and split screens. As a rider, I don’t have nor want someone speaking to me especially when I’m pushing my limits.

The great thing Marco mentioned was it affected his balance. You ear is where you balance is, and riding a bike is about balance. There's no balance on 4 wheels. Re the Martin pit, I also remember Rossi staying out one extra lap, which turned out to be the wrong decision. Having said that in Martin's position just following Pecco would have been the obvious move, as he's Martin's closest challenger, and he was following.

The answer to the log jam of riders is getting more manufacturers back in GP and having more bikes on the grid.

rider-team communication will likely change such split-second decisions.

Since 99% of rider + team radio will be in Spanish / Italian, Dorna will need to employ commentators that speak those languages for the English feed. Given where he lives that should include Neil but maybe not some of the other commentators currently on the team. On second thought I'm in favour! ;)

No radio! it will end up an engineers race like F1 (yaaawwwn} won from the pit garage. Ducati would love it though.

My son watched last weekends sprint with me. He said the bikes sounded like model RC planes. Dorna needs to skip the gimmicks and make it sound like a motorcycle race. The ambient audio is at best tolerable (which is the only one I will listen to.)
@david_new46
@david_new46 Ай бұрын
You mean more volume (in terms of engine noise) during the broadcast? One of the few times tv captures the real sound is when Simon, etc, is standing in the pits and a bike rockets past the start finish line. Still, it could be F1😮

Well f1 put the kics in the exhaust itself so they broadcast more sound than at track

@david_new46 You are correct about Simon's mic in the paddock. Sounds great when the bikes are heading out to the track during an interview. The problem with the ambient signal is they just mute the commentators. So the signal is still weak. I went back and compared to 2019 and it sounded so much better. My theory is that if they can eliminate the engine / exhaust sound, they think MotoE will be more appealing. ;)

They turn GP racing into giving everyone a try regardless of how good they are over their nationality. It will destroy GP racing for life. The BIGGEST difference in riders right now, 90% of young Spanish kids dream of being Marc Marquez. 90% of English speaking kids want to be a KZbin star or some other star. We need to have an interest in wanting to be the best. We have done away with this in American. Our kids are being tough it dont mayyer if your good youll get the job if you want it cause you're a different color or you're just different so you'll get the spot. This is not the right call just to get more different nationalities into GP. This subject pisses me off cause its so cut and dried to see its the wrong way of doing things. If you cant beat the Spanish or Italian kids, you dont deserve the spot plan and simple. Kayla it doing ok in the US but she will never be good enough to race at the top on Supersport on a weekly basis. Not saying it to be mean, just speaking honestly. Id like to see her do good, but shes not fast enough. She has world Superbike champs teaching her as well. So the opportunity is there, just dont think the do or die mentally is there.

The whole world comes to learn motorcycle racing in Spain even some Italians, but you are going to restrict them.. That will be ridiculous...

Thats why ppl are worried, they have dominated bike racing in popular culture to where they have such a selection of boys ridong young to find the greats. In USA motorcycle racing basically died in mid 2000s. It was big deal and hayden hopkins etc etc but they came from watching schwarz etc. So yeah maybe dont "restrict" them but we need to work on worldwide girls and boys getting involved
