It's time for a little backfill around the barn, but I'm nearly out of fill dirt. Before I can backfill, dampproofing, foundation drainage board and french drain pipe and crushed rock is needed. I'll take care of that in this episode. The new tractor I think will turn into a great investment. It's small, but should take care of most of what I'm doing around the farm.
This channel is dedicated to educating and entertaining anyone interested in the art/science of historic restoration, which will include construction techniques and goals, related off-site projects, a little homesteading and off-grid living, history and maybe even a little farming. On this property stands a Dogtrot style log cabin built in 1850, with an addition constructed in the 1970's. Although at one point, this was likely quite a nice and well cared for home, but years of neglect has caused a lot of deterioration. My intent is to have you learn some construction and restoration basics, as you watch. None of my videos are intended to teach the use o-f safety techniques or use of personal protective equipment. That responsibility is yours and those around you.

@@backtothepast1850 I've been looking at the same one TYM. Seems to provide a lot of value for the price. Thanks for sharing.

@@spiritof75 it's really a high quality tractor. I have some minor problems with it, mostly with the backhoe outriggers. One thing I absolutely love is both a forward and reverse pedal, connected to throttle. It's one thing I have hated about the Kubota I rented. Although the Kubota has only one pedal, that pedal is not tied to throttle, so you have to use a hand control lever.

@@spiritof75 there are features that are certainly not critical, but super nice to have. My favorites include the suspension seat, and the lighting on the headache bar. The allows being on the tractor all day without a sore back. The lighting, assuming you don't have to look backward really lights up the night. The phone charger, USB connections, cup holders are a nice feature too.

For the most part, I really like mine. A major complaint is in the backhoe outrigger design. If you pull anything from the sides, rocks can get pulled into the outrigger channels. If you raise the outriggers with a rock in that channel, it's pretty much an automatic broken Hydraulic fitting. Poor engineering there.

Did you get the TYM brand name or RK. TYM makes both. They are essentially identical tractors, but the RK is widely available in the northeast.
