@@TonysTractorAdventure I am just going to try and raise some deer food down on the river. The wife of 50 years passed about 5 months ago and I am struggling to find purpose. She was a war widow w 3 kids married to a professional soldier (cannon cocker). We sort of understood each other and made it work. The youngest daughter was born in GR and her and her husband are here in FL w me to “take care of”me. I am an equipment junkie w/o farming knowledge. I do know tools and pretty much how to use them. I will offer my services to any of my MI locals that want tillage or food plot help. Gotta learn somehow and pushing 76 sorta running against the current! One day at a time Chief. Make sure it is the one rated for structural. It is the same stuff they use for setting utility poles.

Are you lowering the rear 3 point while digging or did you lower the 3 point all the way initially?

I just did the same video about 2 months ago. I agree with the pto hook up too. It’s surprising how many people use the post augers at full throttle. Even a 2 man auger that handles a 12” auger from Home Depot only has a 5hp engine. Does not take a lot of power to dig a big hole. My ls 122 handles a auger like a champ, and eats roots right up too. Done a couple fence holes in a brushy wooded area with no issue. Most people rev high, then the auger drills and becomes stuck. Low rpm will warn you of trouble and keep you from getting sucked in.

I need to play with my PTO drop rate. I’ve got my digger stuck a couple times. I found myself lifting quickly and jerky. Knew there had to be a better way.

Great tip on cleaning out the holes! I have never seen that done before and I've been around people drilling post holes several times.

Sir. Another great Videos. I have 2021. T25. I’m looking for post hole digger. What brand or size is one in video? I’m in New Mexico n we have Tractor Supply stores. They didn’t think the T25 PTO was big enough to handle their brand of augers. If you could point me in right direction I’d appreciate it, also coming up on my 50hr service real soon. It happens! We have pretty awesome dirt here. I have lived in rocky areas, and just putting in a fence post is a job.

You are fortunate to have zero rocks there because things would not go so easy where I live. I’ve used the hand held powered augers and you aren’t moving an inch deeper until you hand dig the rock out and return to the auger over and over. I’m thinking to get one for my tractor but I’m sure it still means stopping every damn 3” to breaker bar a rock out before going any further. That is pure soil where you live I didn’t even see any rocks at all in that.

I mean this with no disrespect but it wasn't fortune. This area was planned due to soil conditions and low cost of living. We've lived in other places that are horrendously rocky. I don't want to try to build a homestead amongst that.
