Wow, what a lovely surprise. I was wondering if you were about due to podcast. You have been busy even though you were unwell and it looks like you are setting yourself up to keep busy. Lovely podcast Lisa, loved it. Since listening to you re the Chiagoo needles I decided to give them a try. Wow, love, love, love. Changes the knitting experience ,to pure joy. Didn't think I would ever go that far with a reference but these are seriously good, for me anyway. Ooohh the kidsilk mohair looks divine and will look at that in the future, beautiful colours. Re the Super Simple summer Sweater - while my 2 favourite go-to patterns are by joji Locatelli, i simply don't get doing a summer garment in such heavy wool! Good score at the spinners and weavers! they had a pop-up shop in town (Masterton) last month, and I scored a pair of hand knit socks, I don't knit socks myself. Enjoyed episode 44, all sorts of content, including the Minerva Bookshop, I may have to take the train down for a visit!

I agree DK is a bit too warm for me, although i'm sure there would be a use for it for cold evenings. I hope you get to visit the book shop, it was a real treat.

Lisa, you should be fine on metal needles for wool and silk blend yarn in stockinette, but definitely use your bamboo needles for the alpaca linen blend, worth the effort, soo drapey (I have a project on the needles dyed by an Aussie dyer). Your botanically dyed wool also looks like it will be a dream to knit.

Hi Lisa, just a question about wet blocking, doesn’t the hot water shrink the yarn? You wouldn’t soak the actual garment in hot water, would you? Love your podcasts.

Hi Sandy, yes very hot water. But don't handle the garment, just let it rest and cool down over a couple of hours. It's the agitation that will make the yarn felt and shrink. Also taking it from hot to cold suddenly will also cause shrinking for felting. The hot water will allow the yarn to relax and remove any spinning oils that may still be in the yarn. I was cautious the first few times i did it but it works. I will discuss this topic on my next podcast.

if you want to do magic loop, i use fixed cable 100cm length in a 2.25mm or 2.5mm depends on your gauge.

Bagging the cheap shops helps noone and doesnt sound good. You purchased the mats from the cheap shop. why when you could have paid $35 for the REAL ones. No personality..really

What podcast were you watching? Lisa certainly didn't 'bag' the cheap shops - if anything, she was supporting them - and as she points out, she was just explaining that you don't have to spend a lot of money on them. Why would you pay $35 if you can get them for $10?
